I have an old farmhouse table for a sewing table. My Bernina 770QE sits atop it. For Christmas, my husband bought me a Sew Steady insert so that we could cut the top and recess my machine to make it more comfortable. Meanwhile, I've raised my chair to its tallest. My legs dangle a bit, so I've balanced the heel of my foot on one of the chair's wheeled legs and operated my controller from the "thick" back end of the pedal. After a trip to IKEA this weekend, I found a footrest that is *perfect* for my current sewing set up...and won't break the bank. My pedal is embedded in a footrest DH and I built years ago. It's not nearly as attractive as the Ikea one, but it gets the job done and since it hides under the table, I don't worry about it. But this is sure good to know for future reference. And at that price, it's worth the time and aggravation it took to build the one I have! Plus I love that you can easily adjust the tilt on it.
