Very cool, necessity and mothers and inventions and all that. WTG
Woohoo!!!! You go dude!
Bravo!

awesome, i can relate to the walker - wheelchair thing, i am disabled also and i have to use both, great idea! I added a sling chair to my walker that pushes up to the front of the walker and fastons to it when not in use for when i have to use it and get tired, i can sit down or if i am waiting somewhere, attending a function and have a seat i can prop my legs up on the makeshift seat because i have to keep my feet elevated. maybe i should make a quilted slide forward instant seat / walker tote, lol GREAT IDEA! :) glad you discovered the many uses of a walker other than having to use it to walk:) kudos!

What a great idea!

Duct tape for your fingers. Now that's one I can use. thanks for sharing your inventive solution.

necessity is the mother of invention!!
I too have had to learn to adapt Love your positive attitude. |
David, don't knock those walkers! I'm still in denial (in my eighth decade no less) about *needing* one; but they also give you your own little territory at quilt shows and a place to stash some of the fruits of your labor treking through all those aisles of vendors!

glad you worked it out--and thanks for the inspiration. I have some physical issues lately and have had a hard time tolerating them.
Wow that worked out really well for you. Good thinking
What a great idea, good for you!
Good deal!
You go girl!
Proves that where there is the will, there is a way. Good for you!
Glad you found a way to keep working on your quilt. They always say necessity is the mother of inventions.
David- When I am tying a quilt, I have a rubber glove laying beside my hands. When that darn needle just refuses to come all the way thru the quilt, I just grab that glove & pull hard. I don't put it on my hand, just grab & pull the needle. Works for me!!

That really is a great idea!

Proud of you David.
As they say, necessity is the mother of invention! |
You sound like a very inventive person. Congratulations on your ability to learn and adapt. :D
Brilliant idea, good job!
Good for you, David! I admire your stick-to-itiveness. Age and illness force us to make adjustments we don't particularly care to.
I'm 82, in excellent health (cross my fingers), but just last year I learned the value of a walker. There were icy patches behind my house on the way to the garage that were really very frightening. A friend asked if I had a walker, and it really put my nose out of joint. I replied with an indignant, "No." But later I got to thinking: my recently deceased mother's walker was in my garage. I brought it to the house, and started using it whenever there was ice. I quickly learned ..... six legs are certainly a lot steadier than two! Thanks for reminding me to be grateful! |
David, a great idea. I'm glad you found a way to get your quilts tied. Keep positive!!
Great idea! I never heard of duct tape on the finger but I guess that would keep the needle from hurting your finger over and over. I will have to keep that in mind when I can't find my thimble.
Thanks for sharing.. Thats great!
You are clever.
Clever idea and so happy you worked it out David. I am sure you have inspired others.
How clever and inventive!
well David, now it is: necessity (sic) is the father of invention! good for you!

Quilters are the most ingenious group of people I've ever met. Everytime one of us solves a problems facing ourselves we also wind up help lots of other quilter's problems too.
I can relate to be healthy and active one day and the next you are faced with so many challenges. Being ingenious we find ways to over come our personal challenges so we can continie doing what we love. Having no quilting police to say you can' do it that way is so freeing. Who cares how much time it takes as long as we finish it. :D :D :D |
I have both and I will have to try it.
I do the same putting quilt over portable bed table and can also sit on my comfy chair.

Hey David, I'm in the same boat you are in only the other way around. I made a walker caddie to fit over the front bar of the walker. As you well know, you can't carry anything when you have to use a walker. I put 5 1/2 inch quilt books, a bottle of water, patterns in the front pocket, and other misc items just to see how strong the straps were and they held. I put snaps instead of buttons because of arthritis. My point is, you are inventive when you need to be to make something work for you. Good for you for coming up with your idea.
You BET they can! There is almost nothing we can't do if we put our minds to it! How clever you are! :)
Isn't it great when we figure out a way to work around our problems? KUDOS!
BTW - does duct taping your fingers make it easier to push the needle thru? |
