I do 4-patches with two "darks" and others of two "lights" when I run short of squares of one fabric - I use up my stash and gives it a very scrappy look.

This is particularly helpful with theme "overruns" (I had Christmas fabric BREEDING behind closed cupboard doors until the door literally burst open ....) I made a lovely cream-reds-greens bed quilt using the Christmas Counterchange pattern in "Creative Scraps - Quilting with Bits & Pieces - 67 Beautiful Quilts to Enjoy" published by House of White Birches.

I am fairly new to quilting. To start myself off with I bought a bunch of jelly rolls at Walmart at half price. There is so much you can do with those strips. I love this board, (old or new, although I am sorry to see so many have not come back since the format has changed) and love how all you quilters out there are always ready to jump in and help someone out. This kind of posting by janeknapp is awesome for new quilters, so helpful. I just want to say thanks for all the advise and encouragement shared here every day.

I've been a member since May of this year and "lurked" for about six months prior to that. I have learned SO MUCH and I have been sewing / quilting for over 40 years. Amazing how much information is on here. Anyway, I agree, this is a great site.

Pat Design.....how did you get your signature to show up? Everytime I post where my signature should be is just a link. When I click on the link all I get is a white page with my name on it.

Why is this posted twice--in the first category (main) and the second category (tutorial)?

You will need to remove the old signature first, then make sure under general settings that you go all the way to the bottom and look under misc options. You need to click on the last one. Tha should get you the tool bar across the top to change font, color and size. If you still have problems send me a private message, and I will try to trouble shoot for you.:)

janeknapp - Neat illustration and it is wonderful that you took the time to do this. Some people can work easily with written instructions - some are "show me" people. Great people here.

Thanks too so much, I am a visual person and this was great, in my minde before seeing this I was putting them at the end of each other, oops, now I see, thanks and a fairly new quilter and still learning too.....thanks so much

Just for information, I go to my signature from the old and just right click on the link and copy it and then just paste it to my replies like this.......see my link and just copy and when I paste it, it is my signature like it was on the old site
