Wow this is truly amazing. Congrats, impressive indeed! Thanks for sharing.

Grandma58 01-29-2012 03:16 PM

I would think it would be the opposite, since with one you move the fabric and the other the machine. So are you saying if I use my little machine to do this it is more free motion then a long arm? I disagree this can be done on a domestic machine, it would take longer but it can be done.

sadly that is NOT FQM....that is hand GUIDED quilting...a huge difference...FMQ is done on a domestic machine...while Hand Guided Quilting is done on a longarm! Great work, but it could never be done like that on a domestic machine.

dressmakergurl 01-29-2012 03:46 PM

Grandma58 the back is as lovely as the front. Nice job.

Ah don't be envious, you probably have a husband and maybe a job, or a bigger house. Funny that is the second time that word has come up tonight and all I can think of is how many things all of us wish we had or could have that others have. But we ALL have something. You probably make other things as beautiful or more beautiful.

Miss EllieB it is the wrong side of vintage drapery fabric and I love it. In fact I love it so much I may just use that fabric to quilt, no piecing.

hperttula123 01-29-2012 07:21 PM

I have to respectfully disagree with you. Clearly you've never seen Diane Gaudynski's work. She does the most beautiful, intricate quilting and all on her domestic machine. (There are many others who do so as well, but Diane is pretty well known in quilting circles and has a great site that showcases her quilts.) Here's a link if you'd like to take a look http://dianegaudynski.blogspot.com/

Grandma58 - your quilt is absolutely stunning! The colors, the pattern and the quilting are so beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing! :)
