This was posted by one of my members and I think it is the greatest. At my group we save all the itsy-bitsy clippings of threads/fabrics/batting and pass them onto our local Age Concern who gets pennies per ton of them from the modern Rag-n-bone man, what she does is:

Clip an old pillowcase to your quilting table and drop all of them in there, when there is enough to make a comfy bed, don't over-stuff cos of the weight when you wash, stitch the end together, and you have a nice little comfy bed for your favourite fur-baby.

My added tip is to add another pillowcase which you can wash when needed.

I sewed a piece of fleece into a pillow case and do this for my babies, they love it

I have one in process now---almost full enough, but had to tie it shut cause the kitties think it great fun to pull it all out and spread it around the house!
