Yesterday I used a piece of freezer paper, ironed on the wrong side of my material to stabilize it, so I could write on it.
When I took the paper off I laid it on a book (not on purpose) and saw it was almost totally transparent....I am always looking for paper to trace cute or neat things in magazines or the newspaper for ideas...great art work there. So this freezer paper can be used after you have used it as a stabilizer. Yes I know I could buy tracing paper but I thought this might be a penny saver for some of us....hope someone will find this useful info......hugs SG |
Wow. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

And look what you learned. Thanks for sharing.

I use new freezer paper to trace patterns. I prefer to use it with a light box underneath, but it usually works fine even without a light box. I use it a lot for machine applique.
|
Thank you for this very helpful and frugal tip :D:D:D
|
Yea, I find remembering the great tips when I need them to be the hardest thing.
|
I don't like the feel of freezer paper once it's been ironed.
|
thanks for sharing the tip with us, we should start a thread for tips!!!
|
|
Thanks for sharing that wonderful idea. I love it when I can use something for multi purposes.
|
I used to have the same problem remembering what that tip was.
Now I have a document created that I call Tips. It is stored in my computer so I can open it up in 2 clicks. I copy the tip I want and paste it into my document. I've been doing it for so many years I have chapter headings so I can find what I want faster. I've got chapters for ironing/pressing, rotary cutter tips, sewing accurate 1/4" seams, squaring up, etc. Hope that helps somebody. casa2manana aka Vicky :D |
Great organisation CasaManana.
Thanks for the tip swimer girl. |

thanks for the idea

That's terrific! I love saving money (so I can spend it on fabric) Thanks for the tip.

Wow, I have never thought of using freezer paper for stablizing something. I use it for other sewing things. Freezer paper has to be cheaper than some of that stablizers.
I also have a folder on my computer for saving tips. Most of those tips come from this quilting board. |
I put a folder on my desk top so I can start saving my tips.
|
Wonderful Idea... Thankyou.

I am doing a Karen Stone pattern for the New York Beauty and I use her freezer paper templates over and over.......at least five times each......

Yes it would dull the needle - I do Paper Piecing and save older needles especially for that.
|
Another use for freezer paper. In order to hide new purchases, wrap your fabric in freezer paper and put it in the freezer!

Won't work for me. My husband and his mother both are always in the freezer. Have to have their ice cream fix!!!! I have a split foyer and in my sewing room there is a large area under the stairs, so that is where my boxes!!!!!! are stored. He doesn't go under there. Probably afraid he will get lost in my sewing room.
|
thank you for the tip. Penny
