I also use non-skid shelving. I use a 1-1/2"x6" piece. Slip between the fabric and the ruler. You don't have to put the whole thing under. About 1/2 & 1/2 that way you can let your non cutting hand rest on the ruler and it won't slip.

Curad Tape? Is it rough on the outside? I will look this weekend at Walmart.

Isn't that the truth, QuiltE?! I LOVE the Olfa rulers I bought a couple years ago. Then again, I love the Olfa rotary AND mats too.
Jan in VA The yellow ones just don't get used as often ... and for sure, I don't buy any others, now that I have discovered them. |

A guild member was complaining about her new frosted ruler. She couldn't see through it, it was slipping, it was the worse ruler she had ever used and so forth. She didn't peel the backing off the ruler. Once that was removed she loved it. LOL. I use the Curad transparent tape on all my rulers. I makes a big difference and doesn't bind up on the fabric like the sandpaper dots.

Onebyone....lol...that's something I would do!
I am slowly replacing all of my rulers with the Olfa Frosted Advantage. I love them. |
Interesting stuff. I have these little emory type tabs that stick to the back of my rulers. They have helped tremendously. Only problem, don't put them where you might be measuring. Sometimes they can block your view.

I also learned .o "spider" my hand on the ruler, with my pinkie off the ruler to stabilize it. Works for me,
