wonder clips are my newest gadget. I am making a fleece/minkee lap quilt for my granddaughters. I clipped two of the sides together so I could cut the minkee to size to match the fleece size. It's the hairy minky that loves to unravel and shed when cut. Those wonder clips are tight and small enough that they aren't interfering with anything! I am very pleased with them.
And now I need to hit the hardwear store for a headlamp, led lights for the sewing machines, sit upon, etc. Thanks for the reviews! and thank you for this thread Neuras! |
Onebyone - I, too, bought one (Gypsy Sit Upon)and at first was very pleased. However, it seems that my rear starts to get sore after a while - is that just me or do you have to take a break once in a while?

Agree with Texas Sue, after while "Gypsy Sit Upon" gives me a sore butt. BUT THE WORST PART regarding them is - Sometimes they bounce you when you sit down and it can throw you off the side. My friend and I both bought one at a quilt show and later, she also got bounced off hers and fell on the floor. SO BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU SIT DOWN ON IT. If you sit down off center, it can throw you off the chair. Maybe ours were just too overfilled with air. Has anyone else been thrown off their Gypsy Sit Upon???

No I haven't been sore sitting on the Sit Upon. I'm up and down a lot so maybe that makes a difference. I think it gives me better posture while sewing. If I sit down not centered it will put me off balance. Mine has never bounced me off but it does when my grand son sits down fast on it. He does it on purpose though. He thinks it's fun thing to do. He's four. LOL

I can't reach the floor to operate the foot pedal. |
I am looking and thinking of buying the "Apple Core Template by Fons and Porter". Does anyone have one of these and do you get great results from using it?? I am one that likes a little challenge and the curves would be a challenge for me.

Or, you could do what I did - buy the AccuQuilt die for this piece. |
OK, my favorite newest gadget is inspired by Lisa Calle's "Hoppers".
My hubby made them for me at his job. I call them "Design Donuts". It's a little "donut" that allows your pencil/pen to mimic the size of your hopping foot and the stitching of your needle, so you can draw/draft designs with a pencil or pen, using your longarm templates, and your drawn design will be perfect to then transfer to the quilt. You won't "lose" that quarter-inch of the hopping foot. I have a few for sale, you can PM me if you'd like some. |
