I would machine wash and dry then get the Iron and press away.
Still a great find for the money, I would not have passed it up.

What about FEBREEZE? your fafric is beautiful. USE the pillowcases to make pillowcase dresses. My Prayer Shawl Ministry made almost 100 of these.They are easy and fun to make. We then bought plain t-shirts of all colors to match the dresses. We have a mission in eastern Kentucky we sent them to.

Just soak them in the tub, and lay on towels to dry. The most important ingredient, is to put a splash of Ammonia into the wash water and a small amount of laundry detergent. Ammonia also neutralizes other odors, such as cat pee and such. You could even mix 1 cup of water with 1 tbsp of ammonia into a spray bottle, and spray your blocks, and let dry on a clean dry towel. Test on one block first, if the ammonia is too strong it will also take the colour out of your fabric, but make sure to rinse. And by the way, you came across a very nice addition to your stash. Try Oust spray. I know that works very well on biological based odors...(from experience...and believe me there was a BIG odorous mess). There is also Fabreez, but I don't know how permanent that will be.

Can you spray them with febreeze, then wash when they are sewn together?

Hi. Great buys. The pieced blocks are called Steeple Chase and are a variation of the Drunkards Path. The material appears to be from the 1940s. So Enjoy for find.

I have been able freshen some older patchwork pieces by putting them in a net bag and tumbling in the dryer at the NO HEAT setting with a fabric softener sheet that includes Febreeze.

I'm sure you've already laundered these so not going to give advice... just want to say
