Nudge, nudge, nudge :D:D:D:D

GO GO GO GO - just aim for 15-30 minutes - it'll turn into hours before you know it!
I'm leaving the house now for a while - When I Come Back I want to read about some progress. NOW GET TO IT!!! :) |
Will you describe how you spray baste. I saw a demo recently on the net about hanging it on the wall to baste.
Get busy! We all want to see some progress by the end of the day. I haven't gotten to the point where I enjoy fmq yet, it's hard work for me. I know I just need more practice and I've been trying to spend some time every day working on it, but it's not my favorite thing. Good luck with your quilts. I am looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

Next, make sure you have the floor covered for several inches aroung the perimeter of the quilt, to catch overspray. Now, I lift back the top and batting and fold it over itself so half of the backing is exposed. I start along the folded edge and spray lightly as I move. Then I lift the batting over the backing and smooth the batting in place, patting and lifting and moving it as necessary till it's all smooth. Then I spray the batting the same way and smooth the top over the batting. I then do the other side the same way. When I am finished, I turn the whole sandwich over and smooth the backing one final time. I use 505 spray and love it. My quilts stay together perfectly while quilting with NO pins to get in the way! You don't have to spray heavily...a light spray works fine. This is how I do it....others may have a better way but this is what works best for me.... I hope this helps! Ditter |
Boy, you guys are good.....I guess I'd better get busy
Ditter |

Well, thanks to all the nagging, I did get started....boy, you are a pushy lot!!! tehehe I know, I asked for it!
I did the first bobbin, no problems so I was feeling real good about it and didn't check the back again untill the second bobbin ran out....you guessed......all eyelashes...had to take it all out from the second bobbin. I rethreaded, changed the needle and tried again on a scrap......still not right...rethreaded again and am happy to report I am back to quilting with NO eyelashes now. Then I stopped to eat ( my dh cooked today)and thought i'd let you know not to send me Marcys avatar picture....please....not that!!!! I'll get back to the sewing room soon.....I promise!!!! Ditter |
OK Ditter , I won't get the mural made..but you must post pics of your quilts.LOL
Ok, you got a great start. I can't wait to see that quilt. Keep it up girl.
How far did you get today ?
Don't make us have to send the "big scary dog" after you  LOL |
I have been following along - sounds like you've gotten started - can't wait to see the results -
Thanks for taking the time to explain how you spray baste. I have 505, but haven't tried it yet. I thought the day would NEVER come when I would NOT want to sew, but it occasionally happens. Thank goodness, like a bad cold, it's temporary.
I am hand quilting a quilt. I was told that the basting spray would not be good for it and would not hold it for very long. Is this true? :?
Hey! Give her time to get over the fumes from the basting spray! I use that stuff all the time and sometimes the fumes can get to you. Especially doing three. So as soon as your eyes settle down and your head stops swimming get in there and sew sew sew.
How's it coming? Have you gotten them started or done yet? Or do we all need to nag you more? LOL!!

I hope that no pictures means you still going strong on the quilting.
Thank you very much for your help. I am going to try it right away. I MADE THE HORRIBLE MISTAKE OF BUYING A BASTING GUN. iT DOES NOT WORK!!!!
Ugh, I also bought a basting gun....took forever to use it, too!
All of you out there - your words of encouragement to Ditter43 were great and very funny loved the little doc pic Marsye - I'm glad that I'm on the other side of the world so you can't see me slacking off LOL
Well I'm still at it! I have almost finished the first one....the quilting that is! It will still need binding. If I hadn't spent so much time"unquilting" I would have finished yesterday.I don't understand why my machine will sew so well for a while and then go crazy!Hopefully it will behave for a while now. I was sewing away today when my DH came in and watched for several minutes. Then he said "Can I try that?" "Maybe later" I told him. I don't know if he is serious but he will have to learn on something else!
About the spray basting...that is one thing I love about 505...almost no odor. As far as hand quiltng, I had one quilt sprayed for months before I got to it. It was still well stuck. I wouldn't be afraid to try it. The quilt will be posted asap.....Thanks for the push, shove and threats, They all helped to get me going... Ditter |
here it is ----> PUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I will definitely be buying some 505! Thank you. I should have known better than to trust a salesman.
