getting stains out
 

Many members have asked what gets stains out of their quilts. This recipe is supposed to work better than Oxyclean:
This is the ultimate stain remover that actually works on a seriously set in stain! Never buy oxyclean again!
The mixture is
1 tsp. Dawn dishwashing detergent
3-4 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide
couple tablespoons of baking soda.
Scrub on with a scrubbing brush :)

Has anyone used it and been dissatisfied with the results?

I'm just now seeing this and would love to know if anyone has tried it.

I don't know if this works but I will try for sure. I do know after years of scrubbing black marks off of the floor I learned that a little baking soda on a sponge took them right off! I am a true believer in Baking Soda!!!

The stuff you can buy at the cashiers counters at Joann's, Hancocks or AC Moores, called Grandma's works wonders on just about everything there is, at least for me. It's in a small bottle and a tad expensive but I love it!

Haven't tried it but probably will - the only concern is scrubbing on with a brush.

Try this stain remover called Sew Clean. It is available in some quilt shops and online. It worked for me when I accidentally dropped the dry eraser pad on light colored carpet. It left a couple large patches of BLACK ink, double ugh. The stain remover did a great job of removing the black marks from the carpet. It also removes ball point ink, blood, etc. from quilts.

I've not tried this on a quilt, but I can speak from experience that hydrogen peroxide works wonders if you need to get blood out of your carpet!

I suppose I should tell you why I know this, huh? Ten years ago my daughter had her tonsils out. A few days later some of the stitches came loose. She woke up in the middle of the night spitting up blood. After pounding on our bedroom door at 5 AM to tell us she was spitting up blood, she nearly passed out. By the time I grabbed my robe and got to her there was blood all over my living room carpet and our front entry. My hubby had to carry her to the car for me to rush her to the ER. He stayed behind to clean up the blood. By the time I got home that night, he had every drop of blood cleaned up with the hydrogen peroxide! My daughter was 17 when this happened and had lost so much blood that she needed a transfusion of 2 units before they could take her into emergency surgery to re-stitch her throat. Her BP had dropped down to about 60/39.

Probably not my favorite way to learn how well hydrogen peroxide works.

And for those who have been sprayed by a skunk( or the dog got involved)....this combination,in larger portions,works great( from one who has a doggy who had to be treated 3 times before he figured out the consequences!)

I accidentally got specks of blood - from a sewing project, not quilting project - on my quilt block. It was late at night. I used toothpaste and it worked on the white fabric! Yeah.

Baking. Soda is great for tea stains on stainless steel. It is wonderful cleaner try it on anything. Gentle rub and done.
