I am always losing mine, it falls on the floor among all the scraps and threads and sometimes it falls in the garabage basket, I am always hunting for it!!!!!

This is my favorite seam ripper. I don't remember where I got it but it was most likely either Joann's or Walmart. The metal parts are brushed and do not reflect the light, so no glare. The tip will fit between the stitches like a regular seam ripper and the curved blade will cut like an exacto knife. I can slip the tip between a stitch then work the blade in as the opening widens, then I can pull it towards me and cut the seam open like a knife or razor blade.
This unsewer is awesome and has taken apart loads of clothes and linens and is still sharp and going strong. It came with a cap, but I have since misplaced it. No little ones around our house to worry about. my favorite unsewer- titanium blade by crauss |

I got a lighted seam ripper and needle threader at Fabric.com

One of my friends has a Ginger - loves it for slicing down a long seam, but says "be careful" she sometimes cuts the fabric along the seam if she is going too fast.
However, another friend swears by her 'Eyebrow shaper' from a local drugstore. It isn't as sharp as the Ginger, but she says she has never cut the fabric along the seam she is riping out. Guess it is what you get used to using that makes it the best or not. |
