My friends and I rent a "suite hotel" twice a year and have a marathon scrapbooking weekend. It is a 2 bedroom suite with a living room and kitchen between them. We potluck dinners and all contribute food (with 1 dinner out over the course of the weekend). It usually runs each of us about $100 for the weekend and we all consider it money well spent!

We used to rent a chalet in NH (live in MA), now one of the women has a vacation home in NH about a 2 hour drive. The light is not good at all, but we each have a ott light. We set up a cutting station and also one on the counter for a second cutting station. One ironing board, and my travel iron and board.

We each take a night to make dinner and breakfast.

We stopped at Mardens on our way up on Friday, and Sat took a ride to Keepsake while Mark Lipmski (SP) was there.

Scheduled our next trip for the middle of April.

All I can say is FUN FUN FUN!!!!!

Our local guild sponsors a 4 day retreat twice a year - one in August and the other in February. I'm fairly new to quilting but I went to my first retreat 5 years ago, met up with some wonderful gals and have been attending both ever since. You learn so much in that kind of environment. We all bring our own projects and learn from each other in techniques, tools and can't beat being spoiled by the camp that does all the cooking for us, too! Now some of us that attend these retreats regularly also getting together in between retreats of a "Girls sewing day" as often as our schedules allow. Priceless.
