I got a new cabinet for my fabrics, spent a week folding and organizing fabrics. This week I am going to piece a baby quilt, I have the strips cut out, I hope to start quilting it this coming weekend. I'll see how far I get on it.

tkhooper 02-22-2010 04:45 PM

Thank you for the heads up. I'm going to look up that lesson.

I finished my quilt for kids quilt today!!!!:-D
Started the one dd sent me, boy did it have some strange sizes to cut, never did cuts in 16ths before. Had to hunt for a ruler that had 16th on it.
Don't think this one will take long.

Congratulations! don't you just love completing a project? :D

Its great to finish a project, especially one that is for a child.

Today I completed the top of the quilt kit dd sent me!
At this rate, I will have to start a new project come the end of the week.

Went to take pix and camera was dead :? It will have to
wait for tomorrow.

I'm trying to trapunto. I'm having lots of problems and no success yet. But there are still a few days left to the week. The last one I tried a clear foot with a spring on it. I had no idea what it would do. It pops up after each stitch. I'm sure it's very useful if I knew what I was doing. But I don't so I'll have to end up throwing that block away and cutting a new one. There is no way I can rip out those stitches. They are tiny. But I haven't given up yet.

I did check out the tutorial thank you for mentioning it. I'm sure I'll try again. That is if I stop ripping out the trapunto. Who knew it was such a pain to do.

My goals for this week are to finish my Breast Cancer Awareness Swap Blocks. I mailed out the I Spy swap squares on Monday and they are starting to arrive at their new homes, YEAH! Finish another travel I Spy quilt.

ginnie6 02-26-2010 05:51 AM

Well life got in the way of my goals! I did get dd's quilt finished and all but 2 rows of ds's quilt done. So for this coming week since it may very well be a bad week I'm going to go very easy on myself. Finish ds's top and get the backing for it.

tkhooper 02-27-2010 08:10 AM

SOMEONE PLEASE...

pat me on the back. I finished my trapunto block. I thought it would never happen but it's finished.

Only two blocks left on the learners quilt. Yippy.

RedGarnet222 02-27-2010 10:00 AM

I bought enough fabrics for five new outfits for my niece's summer clothes. So, I want to work one in here and there in between finishing my rythum and blues quilt top and quilting hubbies charity golf quilt I promised for the auction. I will have company three days of this week, so I am hoping I can get a few of the outfits cut out while visiting. Hey ... maybe I could be like tom sawyer and get them to cut out too.... LOL! Not likely though ...

tkhooper 03-02-2010 04:04 AM

lol it sounds like a good idea to me.

I finished the drunkards path and the charm blocks and I've got most of the sashing cut. Who knew it took that much fabric for sashing and boarders. I'm going to keep that in mind.

Ok goal for this week. Is to finish cutting the sashing and boarders. Square up my 15 blocks. And create boarders for those that ended up alittle smaller than I wanted. And get the top all sown together. That's a lot but I'm getting excited.

studio-christine 03-02-2010 05:02 AM

want to complete the spool blocks I have part-cut

piece a sample block for a "maybe" tute on my blog

get a small-ish quilt on the machine and quilted/binding machined on

cut some scraps and "feed" the strip boxes

tkhooper 03-09-2010 09:01 PM

I made my goal for last week. It was close but I did get it done.

This weeks goal is to make my quilting frame because I don't want to try and hand quilt this in a hoop.

Then I want to get the center block quilted. That's the stained glass owl. I'm going to try for an asian influenced lacy maple tree pattern with him sitting on one of the branches. I've drawn a rough sketch of the pattern. Now I just have to size it and transfer it on to the fabric.

Here they are, they will go to their new home on Friday:)
Yellow Brick Road pattern, scrappy borders to use what I had on hand. Each backing is two different fabrics again to use what I had.

that jacket is just adorable. Great job.

There will be no quilting frame for me. The parts that came in are the wrong parts. And the list of grrrrhs trying to find the parts is just enough to put me off of the project.

So I'll be hooping it. Which means it could take a lot longer than anticipated. Cross your fingers for me. I'm going to try for 1 block plus the connecting sashing per week. That should get it done by the end of June.

tkhooper 03-13-2010 06:54 AM

The hoop did not work at all. so I took my 50% off coupon to JoAnn's and bought the floor model pvc pipe quilting frame. I ended up wasting enough time trying to do it cheaply that I'm behind on the actual quilting. I don't think I'm going to complete the owl block this week and certainly not all the sashing. But I should be in good shape to get them completed next week.

So how are the rest of you doing?

brushandthimble 03-13-2010 10:02 AM

cut out and make the blocks for the swap and BOM.
Cut out blocks for the sampler for my adoptees.
Anything after that is a bonus.

Had company all week so I feel I am behind.

This was not on my list to do, but saw a picture that inspired it. It still needs borders on top and bottom.
What do you think of it??

That reminds me of the asian blue and white china. I really like that for a table topper.

Well this week I finished my goal for last week. Or in another words I'm a week behind. But I've started the butterfly block and I did finish the outlining of the block and about 2/3's of the outline of one of the small butterflies. So I'm in good shape to finish it before the end of next week.

tkhooper 03-24-2010 04:19 AM

Finished the butterfly block and I've begun the trapunto block. I'm still a week behind my goal but I think I may be catching up.

brushandthimble 03-24-2010 05:51 PM

This week made 6 crayon roll ups, plus one today to go with a bag I finished and a journal cover to go with it also.
What shall I work on tomorrow? I have a craft fair in May to get ready for, a shop hop this Friday..

tkhooper 03-24-2010 06:38 PM

I'd probably go heavy on the fans. Early in the year people might forget just how hot it can get at a fair. But then I've never done a fair so what do I know.

tkhooper 03-28-2010 03:48 AM

The trapunto block is finished and I've started the birds in flight block. This is block 4 of 15. I really need to finish this block and the biscuit block this week in order to catch up with myself. Not sure if that is going to happen. It might if the mornings continue to be this cold. I woke up and it was 58 in the house this morning brrrrrr chilly.

Can't wait to hear about everyone else's progress.

brushandthimble 03-28-2010 03:54 AM

I have a few more bags and journal covers to make.

Going to start some stitching for small wallhangings.

Have a phone interview tomorrow, wish me luck.

tkhooper 03-28-2010 04:51 AM

Lots of luck. Do you have a link to all of your goodies?

Not yet, trying to work on one. Any suggestions?

Oklahoma Suzie 03-28-2010 05:16 AM

to find and finish a quilt top, they are hiding on me. lol

tkhooper 03-28-2010 06:15 AM

I use tinypic.com to upload my pictures. I can make albums in it so that would be one way.

Or you could start a topic on this board and put it in the picture section. Maybe three pictures per post until you got them all displayed.

Or if you really want to go all out you could get your own website and then you could make it like a scrapbook with all kinds of neat information added to describe each project.

Or there is facebook and other blog websites where you could build a page with your projects on it.

There are getting to be a lot of options out there. Most of which are beyond my computer skills.

I have dreamscape but can't figure out how to use it to save me.

brushandthimble 03-28-2010 09:42 AM

Thats my biggest problem, I am not that computer savey. I just purchased EQ6 (after selling a quilt here on the board), and have only made it through lesson one.
I may start here, thanks for the idea.

tkhooper 03-28-2010 09:45 AM

Your welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

tkhooper 04-04-2010 04:22 PM

Well I finished the birds in flight block and now I'm quilting the biscuit block. This is the fifth out of fifteen blocks. I'm starting to believe I just might see the end of the rainbow this year.
