a year is too hard to manage right now! L0L! So this week I want to bind the quilt 10yo dd made, and get ds's pinwheel quilt rows together and get a back pieced for it. Next week I need to start on the next ds's quilt! I may be busy forever just making quilts for my kids!

Jim's Gem 02-14-2010 06:40 PM

Sounds like a good goal!!

amma 02-14-2010 06:44 PM

Well...I completed 2 biggies this afternoon...prepping our tax materials so hubby can drop at the cpa office tomorrow and finishing the database of our part of the guest list for our son's upcoming wedding reception. My sewing goals this week...pull out my old serger and see if it still works. If it does, I am going to take a serger class a week from tomorrow evening. I also intend to cut out some projects (that is what I dislike doing the most.). I teach school so my days are already full...this is just what I will try to accomplish in the evenings.

littlehud 02-14-2010 08:11 PM

My goal is to finish to coffee quilt for oldest DD.

DebraK 02-14-2010 08:16 PM

lol, I don't know what all those D's are about, but I say "Go!".

littlehud 02-14-2010 09:15 PM

It's for dear daughter and she loves coffee and wants this quilt. It's getting there.

Gramof6 02-14-2010 10:00 PM

My goal for this week is to get 3 Quilts for kids cut out and sewn, then come up with some placemats & potholders & Mats for hot casserole dishes for a gift. If I accomplish this, I will feel good.

skpkatydid 02-14-2010 10:26 PM

Everyone sounds very industrious. I want to finish appliquing my turtle's shell for a wallhanging, cut the batting, backing and make the sandwich. I need to get some patches for a denim shirt for my husband. I want to decide the final fabrics for another small turtle wall hanging. ( can you see a theme, hehehe) . And I need to cut out the diaper bag I want to make for my daughter in law due in May. I guess that is enough for one day. hahaha

thismomquilts 02-15-2010 03:06 AM

Oh, I like weekly goals rather than yearly - seems more do-able. This week I do need to get my fabric all put away and organized (am working on it!). I have one more Kids Quilt to finish before sending all out to the quilter. I'd love to get that done this week also.

tlrnhi 02-15-2010 03:25 AM

My goal for this week is to NOT kill hubby!

tkhooper 02-15-2010 05:17 AM

My goals are simple. I want to finish hand embroidering my 3 butterflies block and do a reverse applique heart block for my sampler quilt.

kimbie 02-15-2010 05:24 AM

This week I want to finish the charity quilt for the guild. Top is only half pieced, but its small.

ToucanSam 02-15-2010 05:56 AM

This week, I want to:
1) make the backing on my Turning Twenty quilt, and buy the batting
2) finish cutting squares for my rag quilt, and start sewing them together
3) decide on the layout of my stack and whack (I keep rearranging!)
4) put a border and backing on a lap sized quilt for my 4 year old niece.
4) try really hard not to spend much $$ in the local quilt shops!

:)

Do Not Kill Hubby!!! If you do, next weeks goals will be to find somewhere to hide the evidence, making up a convincing story about his "extended" business trip...etc, etc... all this will leave you no time for the important stuff, you know, QUILTING!

cindygale 02-16-2010 04:49 PM

ha ha, i know what you mean. have 6 quilts in different stages..got one done this last weekend..mailed off today to dear grand daughter and guess what i forgot to take a picture of it..think i am loosing...will ask them to send a picture..

Debo 02-17-2010 12:56 PM

You ladies are all so industrious...makes me tired just reading about all you are going to get accomplished!! Think I'll take a nap. LOL

tkhooper 02-17-2010 03:20 PM

I have dumped the reverse applique block in favor of a stained glass owl block using the "empty space" technique, since I had already purchased a yard of Black cotton for the sashing on this quilt. So far I've picked out the design and cut out the templates. Now for the color selection. This part seems to be one of my short falls.

bjdemir 02-17-2010 09:37 PM

My goal for this week is to finish the cat faces on a quilt for my sister then finish packing for a 2 week trip to Cabo!

MadQuilter 02-17-2010 11:34 PM

We have a deadline at work and it is pandemonium. I am so tired when I get home that I can't make it to my sewing room. My goal is to make it through the week and still be on speaking terms with everyone at work. Sewing comes back next week.

tkhooper 02-18-2010 05:02 AM

The three butterfly is done and up on the design wall. Woohoo half way to goal.

Jingle 02-18-2010 06:36 AM

My goal this week is to finish folding my fabrics to fit into my new 48" cabinet. I still have 2 more deep plastic containers to go and a shallow one of scraps. Started this last Saturday evening and work on it 2-3 hours in the evening. Don't know if I will finish this week or not. I have lots of big pieces and they take a lot more time to do.

Good luck everyone on meeting your goals.

brushandthimble 02-18-2010 07:04 AM

I like this thread, thank you for starting it.
Today is Thur so I think my goals this week will extend into next week.
today add borders (3) to a king size quilt, wash, iron and sq off backing. Class to teach tonight
Make an apron for Mon. night as sample for following weeks class. Work on 2 sweatshirt jackets for DGD's, requested by the youngest one who will be 6 first of next month.
Update progress next week :)

tkhooper 02-19-2010 08:54 AM

The stained glass owl is pinned. I even have a picture. Warning I'm not a good picture taker.

I'm just loving this little fellow.

tkhooper 02-21-2010 06:19 PM

The stained glass owl is up on the design wall and now I'm working on a lattice block. I've had a couple of false starts but I'm going to keep plugging away at it.

How is everyone else doing on there goals?

working on SBS blocks

JUNEC 02-21-2010 06:57 PM

Sounds like a good plan - one week at a time - think I will try to do the same - finsh 1 project a wk

mom-6 02-21-2010 07:18 PM

My goal for this week is to contine on the quilt top that just today transferred from UFO status back to WIP!

I'd like to get one entire round done, but that may be a bit ambitious since I need to do some other projects (non-quilting) after work as well.

It is a queen size Around the World with 2" (finished size) squares that I am hand piecing. I'm to the point now that I've completed the diamond shape and am filling in the corners. This round has 15 squares per side.

Just so you know, I got curious and added up how many more squares I have left to add - it is down to 120 per corner. Yeah!

purplemem 02-21-2010 08:05 PM

I want to finish my one block/swap (6 blocks) and put together twin sized quilt for Abbey. If I get those done this week will be very successful.

tkhooper 02-22-2010 06:03 AM

Ok I'm going to go out on a limb here.

I would like to finish the learners quilt this week. I have 4 blocks left. One will be a lattice block so that I can learn mitred corners. Another will be trapunto. The third will probably be the drunkard's path so I can try my hand at curves. The final block could very well be a charm block since I'll be working with scraps by this time. Or I may try my hand at a cathedral window. I don't know about that one it looks hard.

fun2quilt 02-22-2010 06:22 AM

My goals for the week will be to finish my quilt for kids (1 already finished) and get 2 in the mail. Start a quilt dd sent me, maybe start finishing a quilt for dml. Don't know how much will get done, keep getting distracted by new block patterns. I am starting a pile of blocks not connected to any quilt! Maybe come the end of the year I will have enough blocks to make a couple of quilts, never know LOL.

Oklahoma Suzie 02-22-2010 09:24 AM

sounds like great idea. A week at a time is much easier to handle.

brushandthimble 02-22-2010 11:40 AM

One child apron done, mommies to do tomorrow-DONE
one DGD sweatshirt fabric pieced, another to do-WORKING ON
quilt still on frame-Finished quilting & taken off frame
king set aside for next month
full size needs borders, backing needs to be pressed, pieced, squared off
working on SBS blocks[/quote]

tkhooper 02-22-2010 11:47 AM

The lattice block is done and I have to say I don't like mitered corners. They are a pain. I think I'll make square corners from now on.

quilt addict 02-22-2010 11:51 AM

Nice thread and a good concept. Well this is another week for me.

1. Get patch on water softener leak.
2. Clean house for quilting pals visit on Sunday
3. Finish paper piece section of Lavender/pink/green swap blocks
4. figure out why HST portion of above block is not the right size  and make 12 new ones. I hope I have enough fabric.

Eddie from this board has a tutorial on the catherdral windows that he does step by step and seems much easier than the old way. It is under the Tutorial section.
