I have a list of quilt/fabric stores, but if anyone has any feedback about a shop they have been to, or knows if there are any new ones, it would be greatly apperciated! We are going to be staying at The Paris Hotel if that helps. Thank you for any suggestions or ideas! ;)

I have been to Vegas several times and can't imagine having any time to think about quilting! There is so much to see and do besides gambling.
|
I'll be there next June for granddaughter's wedding, don't think I'll have much time for fabric shopping either but would make a note of shops just in case I have some free time. May in Jersey
|
Take me???????????
|
I will be there for a week, and DH will be in meetings all day, from 8-4, so it leaves me alot of time.
C'mon PegD, lets go! |
I don't think there are any shops real close to the strip. Sis and I are going to town tomorrow. We always go to Fabric Boutique at W. Charleston and Decatur in the Wal-Mart shopping center. We really like this shop. She always has a color or the day. If it's blue that day you get 20% off any fabric that has blue in it no matter how small.

There is actually a quilting tour bus tour.
http://www.quilttoursoflasvegas.com/index.htm It seems expensive to me, however cheaper then five minutes at a slot machine. Plus these shops are miles apart and not that easy to find so it might be worth it for a tourist. The shops in Vegas are all very different. Quiltique is in Henderson, but probably worth a visit. They are a Bernina dealer but mostly a huge fabric shop. They have most everything new and the shop is quite light and open. Also in Henderson, but downtown is Sew Obsessed. Her shop is really new, but she has beautiful stuff, and is so sweet. Very friendly store. https://www.thewiseagent.com/news/?newsid=22167 Then there is Fabric Boutique on Charleston, which has been mentioned. Also a very nice and very big shop. Great specials there most of the time. Not much info on their website, but a great shop. http://www.fabricboutique.com/wp/?p=342 My favorite shop is a little one called The Christmas Goose. I always find what I need there. The space is small but packed with beautiful things and the best place for inspiration or shopping. They are also super friendly there. http://www.christmasgoose.com/ The last one that I know about, is Fiddlesticks. It is out in Boulder City. Very nice shop with lots of fun things. I have only been there once, but I found lots of stuff, of course. http://www.fiddlesticksquilts.com/ Well, hope that helps. |
Staying at the Paris? WOW! right in the middle of fun! Last time there stayed at the 'Jockey Club' and we were on the side of the building that we could watch the water show. That is so cool and soothing after fighting with the mobs in the casinos and streets!
Have fun and let us know how your 'shopping' goes! |
Just to have fun!
|
I was there with my husband in May at a conference he was attending. I managed to find my way to The Fabric Botique. Nice store and friendly people. Picked up some patterns that the stores around my area did not have. There are also two outlets malls and the bus on the strip goes out to them, one at each end. Enjoy

Hold onto your mone by not donating it to the casinos.
|
Have fun! I've been to Vegas but didn't have time to browse fabric shops.
|
I have never had the chance to go to quilt shops when we've been there..maybe next time I will. We don't gamble either we go for the shows and the food. And we got married there 4 years ago in Sept...Elvis and everything! =)
|
FYI...
Christmas Goose does not carry batiks. They have a 30% off all fabric sale on the 30th of every month    If you got a car, visit em all. They're great :) :) :) |
I think that the quilt shops in the Vegas area try not to compete with each other. I was talking to the gal at Christmas Goose and she was telling me where to find what I was looking for. I think it was something Asian. She told me that Fab Boutique had a huge selection. They all know each other I think and just do it as a courtesy. There is so much out there fabric wise, it is hard for any one to carry everything.
I do think that this specializing is a fairly common practice with quilt shops. I know that the ones in New Braunfels, TX do the same thing. One shop had mostly modern stuff and Moda, that sort of look, and the other one downtown had mostly civil war and classics. Same when my daughter and I went to some quilt shops around the Simi Valley area. Well, within 20 miles anyway. I was surprised how specialized some of the shops were. My daughter likes 30's and that sort of thing, but not too pink and modern. The shop in Simi has lots of pink and girlie stuff. She never took me there till recently, because it was not her thing. But I loved it. |
I did this tour in May. It was wonderful. We were only in town for 3 days so it was well worth it. Susan Tracy, owner is a give a great tour. She gives you the highlights of each shop so it helps to know what your looking for for fabric and notions, and then there lunch at a great little resturant called Sweet Tomato's, I think? If you go don't forget to try their bread!!! It was so good I skipped desert and had a second slice.
For a tourist its a great deal.

This may seem a bit sick, but on our last trip to Las Vegas I spent more time in quilt shops than casinos. I think I hit them all. The ones I remember -- when a shop is willing to ship my purchases for me I tend to buy more (LOL):
Quiltique in Henderson, Fabric Boutique, Uncommon Threads and Sew Little Time. |
HeeHee...nothing sick about that! I spent more in the quilt shops than DH lost in the casinos!!1

Take the tour but more importantly be prepared for really hot weather!
|
From this side of the pond it looks amazing to be there, enjoy en forget about fabrics!
|
Go to Fremont St & old Vegas! Also eat at Batista's Hole in the Wall - great Italian food; it's behind the Flamingo
|
My suggestion for you is...
WIN BIG & buy fabric............ |
Try to see Jersey Boys. The music is great. We purchased the inexpensive seats and when we got there they gave us seats on the floor, only 7 rows from the stage on the right side. What a treat!
|
There's a quilt shop called The Christmas Goose and it is wonderful!!! People are really friendly and lots to look at...and buy! It's outside of the strip and you'd need a car and you can google the shop or mapquest it. Well worth it!
We were in Vegas last February and had a great time just walking up and down the strip and watching the people. They have a monorail now that will take you from one end of the strip to the other with lots of stops in between. Well worth the price of the ticket. |

vegas has several nice quilt shops. My favorite is quiltique ( they have a websight), theirs fabric botique, christmas goose,
when we go to vegas we rent a car, and we take one day, lol. my dh drives me around to these different shops, he just sits and waits int the car, reads the paper and has a cup of coffee. When we go , i take along a almost empty suitcase, so that i can fill it up. One time i just sent it all home by ups. |
There is a quilt shop not far from the strip. You can get there on a bus. I can't remember the name for the life of me. Old Ladies disease!! Everytime we have gone to Vegas I find that shop again. It is fairly large and I have always found good buys and the colors i was looking for. Take bus toward old downtown and you have to change to go west off of vegas blvd.
|
I was there with a friend a few years ago. With no car the shop hop was our only option besides a cab. We really enjoyed it. A day of shopping and someone else doing the driving ☺
We figured we could lose our money at the machines or go on a shop hop. Neither one of us gamble so our decision was made !! Have fun !!!! |
I was in Las Vegas last year Mother's Day my girls took me there as a gift for M/D .There is a good shop in Henderson if you are driving "Quiltique" beautiful shop check it out if you get a chance you"ll be surprised .All kinds of fabric and patterns etc.

Don't know anything about fabric stores but we went for a long weekend. Take your good walking shoes.
But shoot, I wish I had seen the quilting tour bus. It might have been fun to do. |
I was in LV in May and went to Quiltique, while the shop was very nice - well set up and the lighting was great: I could not find one thing to buy which is unusual for me. I found the prices very high, even when 30% off UI could not bring myself to buy anything.
When I have travelled with my DH I take my English paper piecing hexagons and what all the tv I never have time to watch at home, including movies. Go down to the pool at your hotel in the morning as it is going to be hotter than you know what there. Enjoy your time away from home! |

Can't help you with fabric shops, but I just wanted to tell you to have a great time. I enjoy Vegas every time I go! I love the shows!

you have to go to Quiltique in Henderson, which is east of the strip but easy to get too you will love it, you can google quilts shops in las vegas and come up with some I've been to 4 in the area all over vegas and loved them all.
|
I always take my loan officer with me!
|
Don't gamble too much so you have enough for fabric. LOL
|
We stayed at Lake Mead this April. Fiddlesticks in Boulder City is a small, friendly shop that I just fell in love with. I made a couple of stops before we had to move on. It is top of the line in my book. I was fortunate to stop by Quiltique in Henderson when they were sponsoring a sidewalk/Craft sale with local quilters selling their stash. Fantastic. I recommend both shops.
|
don't gamble, buy fabric!
|
Paris is right on the strip. No quilt shops within walking distance, but I agree, you won't have much time for browsing, too much to see and do on the strip. We were there last August and just a warning, it was REALLY hot!!
