Was this a good deal?
3 Attachment(s)
I am relatively new to quilting (just started in August) so I don't know the answer to this. My husband went and picked up my sewing cabinet and the husband's owner offered to sell my husband fabric and thread and a thread holder for $160.00. I wasn't there so my husband just went and took the offer. Here are pictures of everything he got. Was it a good deal? Not that it will change anything if it isn't but I'm curious.

It looks like a good deal to me. That thread holder looks very sturdy and holds a lot of thread - a lot more than the one I got that cost $29.00 + tax and if you figure each piece of fabric is a minimum of $1.00 per quarter of a yard - it will add up so fast you will see he got a great deal.

yes it is and the fact that yr hubby bought it for you makes it even better in my eyes! Give him a big hug and enjoy!
He did good!
OMG - Yes, that is a great deal! Somewhere on the QB there is a picture of me holding a teeny little bag of batiks that I bought in Paducah that cost me $50.
Great deal!!!!!!
Where's the picture of the sewing cabinet? If you paid $1 for each spool of thread that would be $124 just for the thread so you got GREAT deal!
great deal
It sure looks like a great deal to me!
good deal!
I hope you told your DH, "Thank you!".
There are over 100 spools of thread alone. If the price were a dollar a spool, that would be $100. Sure was a good deal
Man, I wish my husband would keep his eye out for such a deal. After youi have been quilting for a while, you will really appreciate what you have there... YEAH for your hubby.
If you don't kiss your DH for this great decision, the rest of us gals on the QB will line up to do it for you but, be warned, we'll charge a piece of your DH's stash (he DID buy it!) for taking care of your job. ENJOY!
Looks like he did get a deal. Maybe you should take him with you to shop. I think some people just attract good deals. Hope you enjoy playing with all of this.
It was a fabulous deal, what a wonderful guy you have there. Enjoy your quilting and your hubbie, too!
Good decision on your hubby's part.
looks like a decent deal
Yes you got a great deal!!!
Great deal... he's a 'keeper'!!
Great deal and even better husband!
Score!!!!!!!
Good deal. Send him out again!
Your hubby can shop for me anyday! He did GOOD!
Green with envy over here! I don't need any more fabric and yet I still salivate at a great deal on supplies...Enjoy.

Looks like a good deal to me.
I hope you gave him a big hug and kiss for scoring such a sweet deal for you :)
The thread alone with the stand is a great deal. It's hard to tell what the fabric is like from the picture but fabric in my LQS is selling for $11-12 so it doesn't take much to add up to $160. What a great husband you have.
With all the fabrics, the thread holder and thread your DH made a very good decision. Lucky you that he did this for you. He's a keeper.
Yes :)
Ok..first, yes. I think that is a good deal and ...
I Sooooo agree...what a considerate DH! :) How precious!! QUOTE=Cyn;5968900]yes it is and the fact that yr hubby bought it for you makes it even better in my eyes! Give him a big hug and enjoy![/QUOTE] |
It looks like a great deal, especially the thread, although you may want to sort the fabrics and check if they are all 100% cotton. There may be different fabrics mixed in, depending on what kind of sewing she did.
Are you bragging or complaining? I think it is a wonderful husband you have. WOW!!!

well if you had more than ten yards at $16.00 a yard, yes I would think you did well.
Just the fact that he purchased it makes it a great deal! DH's like that are hard to find. Big hug for the guy that said Yes, I'll take it! I hope that there was a happy dance in your kitchen when he brought it home.
What a wonderful DH you have. He did good!
From now on when you post Pics' of quilts made from this stash, you have to refer us back to this thread so we can see what beauty you created from it! peace |
I agree - looks like a good deal to me, and a great loving husband. Looks like a win-win.
Looks like you did well! Enjoy using it all and have fun!

I have a question your statement -- [the husband's owner offered to sell]--did you mean the owner's husband?
That was a good amount of fabric and thread for the price, but if the fabric and thread didn't belong to him why was he the one selling it? Had she past away? If not, I am curious if she knew he was selling her fabric and thread. |

He was just wondering if he got a good deal so I told him I would ask. :) |
