congratulations. Yes it may have cost more than all those other things but it will give you more pleasure, relaxation, creativity and love than all those other things combined. Enjoy every waking moment with your new baby.

I am soooooo jealous, I want one! I haven't looked at them yet, just seen the advertising. WOW!

Good for you! I remember when I got my "expensive" machine, which now is probably not even "expensive"! I have never been sorry. Enjoy it!

I bought the new Horizon about 2 months ago - absolutely love it! I know you will too.

I got a Horizon after managing with a Babylock QC for 5 years. After 3 months, I haven't found anything it can't do well. I've been teaching myself free motion (using guidance from Leah Day's site, machingers and super slider), and suddenly I'm FMQ'ing a full size quilt. Whee! I don't like much jewelry so I guess this is my diamond necklace but way more useful.

Would someone please post where we can see a picture of the Horizon everyone is talking about? Got me curious now!

[quote=purplefiend][quote] I'm torn between the horizon and the bernina with the bsr. i want the bsr AND the 11inches! and i'm not gonna buy the bernina 830. sigh.

If you haven't tried the Bernina BSR. you might want to test it before you buy it. I tried it and didn't like the way it works.
I've been free motion quilting for years with no BSR and I like to run the machine fast and move the quilt slower; the BSR doesn't like it that way. The dealer agreed that it wasn't for me. I have tried it several times and decided I could do without it.
I do most of my quilting either with a Pfaff 1222E
(35 yrs old) or my Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 875 with a 10" throat(1 yr old).

intresting. i do plan on playing around with it before buying it. we live 5hrs away from the nearsest dealer...
i'm hoping that the bsr will help me move beyond stippling. (which i think i've actually gotten pretty good at, definately not perfect, but satisfactory in my world!) :)
also, the bells and whistles on the machine do beckon. but i think the horizon shouts loudly in the bells and whistles department as well! :)

As for the bsr, yes it was nice, but practice with the start/stop feature, and can't tell a difference. Hope this helps.

I sew quite a bit with either a Singer 15 treadle & Singer Featherweights, older Berninas and a Pfaff 1222E and they all have the bobbin case that you hate. lol I'm used to them, so its second nature for me.
It took me quite a while to get used to the drop-in bobbin
that my HV Sapphire 875 has.

good to know! thanks! :)
