Great find! New home sewing machine!!!
1 Attachment(s)
Today my DH wanted to go to an auction, I went with him a bit disgruntled (was sewing table runners). There under a tarp outside (5 days of rain), was a portable sewing machine. And somehow it just followed me home. It is a 1982 New Home Model 552, in like new condition. It has the original bill, $599.00 from Fort Pierce Fl, and the original manual, and parts, and sewing box!!! It will be a birthday gift for my DD,maybe, just maybe, it may stay with me. And it cost $55.00!!!! Here is a picture. Tomorrow my dh will tune it up. Here is a picture:

Congrats on your find. And congrats on living on one of the best places in the USofA--------The DelMarVa peninsula. Love Chincoteague best! Only a handful of people know where its at----------why is beyond me. |
What a great find. How luck were you. You were meant to go to that auction.
|
That is beautiful and in such wonderful condition. I think you should keep it.
|
What a terrific buy! I wish I could find a Juki like that. :)
|
wow=great machine in great looking condition

Great find!!

Love this New Home 552 machine, she purrs like a kitten, straight stitches great and makes the tiniest zig zag perfectly. DH is finishing her up, clean, greased, oiled, ready to visit my DD. Glad she followed me home, I think my DH is becoming "the sewing machine whisperer", he gets these older machines purring.

Fabulous living on the DelMarVa peninsula, love Assateague and Chincoteague ponies. It is a best kept secret, clean uncrowded beaches, natural beauty - just south of Ocean City MD that is.

WHAT A DEAL!! CONGRATS on this wonderful find.

WOW, aren't we lucky? Great find. Don't you just love auctions now? At an auction about a year ago, I bid on and purchased a 4 thread Baby Lock Serger for $17.

I grew up on a New Home which my mother bought new in 1951. I used it until the 70's when I bought another machine. I wish I still had my original one. I have bought an older New Home as a back up. We have a rental apt. and I have put that machine in there for their use. I did have a treadle New Home in the 90's, then sold that, after which her house burned to the ground, so it is now gone. But I do love a New Home, and yours looks quite nice. My main machine now is a Pfaff 7570, and my back up is a Brother CS6000i. Love them both. Margie

WOW - were you lucky - that's a great bargain. Sometimes something will jump into our laps especially when we're not looking.
|
It looks great!
|
Looks like they just took it out of the box. Lucky you and good luck with it. Happy sewing. Sue

I think that is awesome!!!!!

I too love auctions have gotten a Singer (it's in it's case & haven't had to use it but it's one of my back ups. Sent husband to an Estate sale and had him pick up a Janome Silver Gem for $25, love it so much it's now my piecing machine. My goal now is to have a Janome 6600P because the Gem sews so nicely.

Great find... I'm sure you will get years of enjoyment....

Wow!!!! That is a find. You will love it and you can quilt without a walking foot if your presser foot is placed properly per the project. Get some good sewing machine oil and oil every day that you use it. Just a wee drop in designated places.
