It's been so hot for so long, and I just couldn't take it any more. I had to get out of the house, heat or no heat. Well, near my home is a Farmer's Market with a fairly large out door flea Market. My DH and I go pretty regularly. Mostly we just walk the rows and look. At the end of the first isle there it was! A Singer Featherweight! The guy was only asking $60 for it. Another lady was looking at it and asked about it first, Darn! I told the guy I had cash now. The lady said she needed to talk to her hubby and get money. The seller said go get your money but be back by 2 o'clock(it was 1:40) I can't hold it longer than that. That little Featherweight is now sitting on my sewing table. I've already tried her out and she runs like a dream....I think I'll call her Edna! I'd post a picture, but I don't know how to, yet!

oh what a geeat deal, congrats!! and have lots of fun with her!! :-)
Do most Featherweight owners name their machines? I used to name my cars, so I am just curious..
(My first car was my Grandma's 1960 Rambler. She was named Flicka (the car, not Grandma). Then I had 1955 1st series Chev Pick up named Oleander). |
That is great! You'll love her. I got one about a month ago and she sews like a dream.
Congrats!
Lucky you! That's the kind of deal I'm always looking for & can never find!

So glad to hear Edna is no longer an orphan! Enjoy her and take good care and I'm sure she will reward you with many pleasant hours and straight seams.
Congratulations and best wishes to you and your FW. May you have a long and happy relationship.
I don't know where in Delaware you are from but I live in Delmar and am leaving the house this week as little as possible. Most of last week we had no AC. The HVAC people got it fixed Friday and other than going to church yesterday I have not left this house since! I have it set on what my son calls "meat locker cold" and soaking it up. |
Great find and what good luck you had!
Congratulations! God blessed you for sure!

Great find!!! We used to live in CA and my DH went to the flea market all the time. I now have four featherweights and don't think we paid over $100 for any of them. The first one cost $60 and I have carrying cases and all of the attachments, etc. It is VERY exciting when you can find a bargain like that!!!
