trugger 06-28-2009 06:27 PM

The gals from my grams' quilting bee and a friend came over today for a quilting party.
We put one of my quilts in the frame, rolled it up so it could fit into the house, and did a little quilting.
It was a hoot!

Skeat, and everyone,
It would be great if we were all able to quilt together!

I served fruity sun teas, crackers, cookies, and a carrot cake.
Then as the afternoon went on, margaritas and wine!

I had to push the snacks on everyone... their hands were busy quilting.

The gal in #25 is the cutest, sweetest gal. She was my grams' best quilting friend. They'd quilted together, once a week for years before grams' passed.

This is the group that my grams finally let me sew with (after 8 years or so of making quilt tops). about 2 years ago, grams' let me put one of my tops in the guild's frame and they quilted it for me (windmill quilt). Since grams passed, then, they've done one more for me. (red zig zag).

tlrnhi 06-29-2009 03:09 AM

Those are really nice!

You tell that nice lady that I want her to adopt me!
I'll bet she is the sweetest thing, but am sure she's full of trouble too! Just look at that smile! :) :) :)

sewjoyce 06-29-2009 05:05 AM

Looks like you had a lot of fun at your quilt party!!!! And your quilts are gorgeous!

pittsburgpam 06-29-2009 05:13 AM

how wonderful. Wish we all could do that.

bearpaw 06-29-2009 05:48 AM

That looks like so much fun!! I'm not too sure about the margaritas and wine, my stitched would be all over the place!! :D

RedGarnet222 06-29-2009 07:06 AM

Oh my gosh ... This is so very neat. I just love all the pictures of your quilting bee with the girls. Absolutely inspiring pics to join a group/guild, huh?

littlehud 06-29-2009 07:54 AM

That looks great. What a fun day.

sandpat 06-29-2009 05:17 PM

I'm envious!!!! What a great party!!!

Maride 06-29-2009 07:25 PM

I am so dumb!!! I was surprised to see them all handquilting. My first thought was that it was a rack to be used with the machine. It looks like so much fun. I wish I had quilting friends near by.

I did had to go back and see that ladie on pic 25. She looks like anyone's grandma. I also wanted to go give her a hug.

those pics really made me miss my mom. she and I shopped for material, helped her cut some pieces and roll up the quilts on the frame. Was working at the time so she did all the hand quilting. Yes, us kids do have one each - she's been gone for over 16 yrs and I think that is why I so enjoy quilting - keeping in touch. Thanks for the pics :)

Oh yea, I'd bet she's the one with all the good stories, too. There's got to be one in every bunch to keep the party going. Thanks for the show. It seems that it was so cool out that day.

Ninnie 07-02-2009 02:55 PM

Now that is my kind of party!!
Looks like you had a great time!

What a wonderful day you had... :-)

Grandma Cindy 07-03-2009 08:14 AM

What a wonderful twinkle in Gram's eyes. Her love and joy of what she is sharing comes through in every photo. Thank you so for sharing. Also it seems to be a good website, how hard is it to navigate?...

trugger 07-03-2009 08:26 AM

smugmug is absolutely wonderful...

My first choice would have been a free site, but for about $20 a month, there's no ads and I can put up as many photos I want.

Highly recommended.

(I'm not a salesperson but if you decide to do it... let me give you a referring code or something... )

butterflywing 07-03-2009 08:46 AM

That does look like you all had a great time! I hand quilt with a bunch of seniors at church, and we use a frame like that! We are getting fewer and fewer! :?

Chele 07-03-2009 12:46 PM

It looks like quilting in "paradise!" Especially with the carrot cake!
