oh my, looks just like my stitches sometimes, well they say imitation is the best form of flattery!!!

Sunnye 10-16-2011 06:58 AM

Your machine and mine must be related!

I have found that talking to my machines seems to help, and like you said, threatening makes them behave sometimes.

kwilter 10-16-2011 08:14 AM

So familiar! In my case, the thread sometimes would slip off the little arm that raises and lowers the needle. "OH, POOP!" when it happens!

mpeters1200 10-16-2011 08:15 AM

I hope I don't jinx myself, but that's never happened while quilting. It DOES however, happen periodically when I am piecing. There seems no rhyme or reason for it. I use a little Janome to piece and I never have to mess with the little tension thingy. I have to rip it all out, rethread the machine and practice on some crumbs to make sure it's fixed before I keep going again.

What a pain in the neck.

rosebeka 10-16-2011 08:33 AM

I have had this happen on the bobbin side if I forget to lower the presser foot. My Pfaff has a button to give less pressure that I use when machine quilting.

Morag 10-16-2011 08:42 AM

A fellow quilter told me to have a glass of wine before I start FMQ. It relaxes her and relieves tension from her shoulders . I have not tried FMQ yet and am frankly afraid I'll have the same kind of results!

mimee4 10-16-2011 08:46 AM

I've seen this very sight before. Too bad it isn't acceptable sewing. But then it really doesn't hold very tightly.

mucky 10-16-2011 08:54 AM

If you just remember thread knarls on top - bobbin problem
Thread knarls on bottom---top threading problem

janny40 10-16-2011 08:59 AM

Looks like something you might have if you didn't put your pressure foot down

LindaDeeter 10-16-2011 09:08 AM

I've ripped a few of those out too ... still, I love FMQ!! It is so worth the patience & effort! I think I have actually learned to "listen" to my machine now & can pretty much know if something is not stitching right. Most of the time, complete re-threading and/or cleaning out lint solves the problem.

anniesews 10-16-2011 09:34 AM

Yes, it is maddening. Been there, done that.

KimS 10-16-2011 10:55 AM

Glad I'm not the only one this happens to. Makes me so mad when I think everything is going well and then you find this. UGHHHHHHH!!!!!! Seeing this reminds me I need to get a new ripper. LOL!!

1Blondie 10-16-2011 11:04 AM

Oh yeah!

Never heard of that  ...but nice to know I am not the only one that has happened to

collady 10-16-2011 11:45 AM

Bless you! That is the kind of thing that could turn one's hair white. Oh, wait! Mine is white!

sherian 10-16-2011 11:45 AM

Makes you wonder, who is in control at times.
But it is who is patient and has the desire to win or
should I say overcome the the evil one! Star Wars backflash.

Bobbin vomit  ---never heard that before but oh so funny.

GJoyce 10-16-2011 12:08 PM

OH Boy, You have a partner for growling. I did that on one of my quilt blocks. At least I was lucky to catch it before I went too far and was able to correct it. My thread wasn't around the place it belonged. GRrrrrr on me the operator. LOL
For some reason I haven't turned white but getting so thin pulling it out I'm gonna need a wig soon. LOL

Oh, but if you have a computerized machine, it might be able to read your posting....

javin22 10-16-2011 01:16 PM

I hate it when that happens.

jojosnana 10-16-2011 02:09 PM

OMG - I am sitting here laughing out loud.....you are all so funny. Bobbin vomit......

kathyd 10-16-2011 02:54 PM

Not a very good place to put a nest. Good luck on the next try!

Eisgoow 10-16-2011 03:13 PM

Happened to me too. Mine was threaded wrong somehow, all by itself !! LOL however, I have a machine that I had to stop using cause of the bobbin wasn't working properly. I got a new machine after fixing it a couple times. Very frustrating.

CherryPie 10-16-2011 05:49 PM

Makes me want to put off trying FMQ a little longer. Bobbin vomit...too funny!!!

Now according to all you gals, this is not a mistake or problem. It is a creative design. Right?????????

I can't stop laughing, because it looks so familiar. The only thing that truly helped for me was buying another sewing machine. No amount of time every helped the next to the last machine. I threatened it within an inch of it's life and came so close to drop kicking it into the back yard.
