I find the same to be true for me. I also have a Janome(6600) and use it the same way for fmq!! :thumbup:The problem with the looping is most likely a problem with the way the machine is threaded. This has happened to me a lot. Thread seems to slip off the tension wire easily.

My Janome runs without a foot pedal if I remove it.SOOOOO I removed it and tried to stipple and it turned out GRRREAT!!!
I am so happy. Who would have thought it would help so much but it sure did work for me!!I also did some swirls.

Think I will try to come up with some designs of my own too, since there are no quilt police. :thumbup:

Is this feature on all Janomes or only the upper end models? That would be a great selling/buying point

I have the same Janome and that is exactly how I finally learned FMQ I had tried with my older machines but was not successful until I got the Janome and no matter what I do on that machine I use only the start/stop button. I gauge the speed at whats comfortable for me and off I go.

Generally a tension problem. Re - thread everything, including checking that you have the bobbin in correctly, tighten all of the tensions (including bobbin tension if necessary)gradually and use a test square. If it doesn't work, try checking there is no lint in the bobbin race or tension discs. When you are playing around with tension discs and screws, remember the little rhyme : "righty is tighty and lefty is loosey" and you should get it correctly.

My Viking Sapphire 875 has that feature too. I can use the foot pedal or just the start/stop button and the speed control. It works great for free motion quilting.
