I do like to sew in the comfort of my home with screens and sunshades and air conditioning and TV and all the other comforts. I do hang my laundry out though. |
yes, that would make a big difference. Baby always came first.
I live in the south and you won't catch me out in the sun on purpose after mid morning. I don't feel guilty doing what I want to do with my time.
I like the sun but I am a redhead and burn all the time. In the '40's and '50's I had blisters all the time. Now I do not get enough sun so I take vit.D as recommended by the doctor. I would like to live where it is 70 year-round. I do live in Southeastern PA. I feel 'HAPPY" when the sun is shinning.
I don't know how to add my correct age to my siggy. I will soon be 72, WOW. |

Yes. I feel the same as auntevie about being happy it's raining.
Its just now starting to be nice outside..............when its not raining that is. As I have a yard and gardens to take care of, I spend the mornings outside working and when it starts to get hot, I come in to sew. This has been working for me for the couple of years since I moved to Iowa from Florida. My sewing room is in the basement is the only sour note and has only 1 small window to view out but its cool down here so there's another up note. Every morning I take a walk around the yard to see what needs to be done, do it if I can and then I get to play the rest of the day without regrets. I'm loving my retired life.
Suz in Iowa |
I quit buying tickets for guilt trips a long time ago! This weekend it was in the 90s. I will sew in the comfort of my A/C. The wind was fierce but hot. Guilty? Nope. I plead innocent!
Absolutely not. I'd rather be sewing, but that's just me.
LOL Nopers .. love to quilt, sew and craft when its cold or hot out-when the sun is shining or not !LOL Our dog has a door to go out all the time (regardless of the weather!) and we are both happy !LOL Don't get me wrong I go camping and all those other wonderful things outdoors but some days all I want to do is to sew ! LOL
I garden, help with the mowing of the lawn (I am the grass bag holder !LOL)and many other outside chores (weeding, moving things around etc...)so I feel I get enough Vitamin D on those wonderful days, which are just as wonderful when I am sewing ... |
I don't. I sew and then go outside for a few minutes and then back inside. I had heat stroke about 18 years ago and just can not take the heat. If it is around 70-75 then I feel a little quilty.
Yes! I am pretty close to moving my machine out to the front porch (covered). But first I have to finish planting my flowers - just not too many.
Yes, I do. I love the outdoors and when it is good weather, I feel I should be outside. Does not mean I go outside !!!
I WOULD feel guilty if I stayed in to sew, but I don't. I refuse to miss an opportunity to increase my fitness. Most American's, esp quilters, are overweight and unhealthy. I have uncontrolled BP, in spite of taking 5 different meds for it, so for me it would be near suicide to just sit and sew when the opportunity for good hard exercise exists. I have started seeing a cardiologist, but until he finds a solution for this problem, I'm going to do all I can to stay healthy, mostly by riding my bike. I'm already thin, so losing wt. will not help me. Where I live there are plenty of nasty days to stay in. Honestly ladies....fitness feels better!!!!
NO, if I want to go outside I take hand sewing with me.

Never feel guilty about doing what makes you happy!!
I really should have run the weed wacker over the weekend but I couldn't want to.
I live in Florida so unless I go outside first thing in the morning or wait until very late, it's too darn hot outside... I might feel a bit guilty when "winter" rolls around to Florida, around November! :)
I say if you enjoy it, go for it!! |
No. I am suppose to stay out of the sun because of skin cancer.
I can't say I feel "guilty". But I do tell myself it's a shame to be inside on such a beautiful, glorious day. Usually I will go sit out on my deck for awhile then come back in and do what I want.
Never feel guilty. I did have some work outside to do yesterday. Got it all done, now I will only go outside to smoke. That is enough fresh air for me. I usually sew everyday. Looking outside is enough for me.
Not me....don't like the heat.
Oh gosh, I know how ya'all feel. I get up in the morning and start something for dinner so I don't have to be in the kitchen all day. Then I think I might quilt.......But then I look at the hardwood floors and they need to be cleaned, the kitchen floor need to be washed and it goes on like that. OOP'S forgot to mention that the yard needs mowing.
I take two medications that say stay out of the sun, so I don't feel guilty at all.
Maybe a little when there are flowers to plant and a garden to put in.
Yes I do feel guilty and try to make sure the out door work is done before I quilt. I love rainy days.
Not at all quilty. I'm one of those people who only feels like doing anything when it's bright and sunny. Rainy days make me want to curl up with a good book and sleep!!
I dont feel to guilty as extreme heat makes me feel sick, so unless it's a day where it is cool and sunny then i dont feel guilty.
Never, never, never!
peace |
I set everything up then take it outside and relax and sew. Love on the go projects for this time of year. Or small projects.
Nope, don't feel guilty. Got outside today and once I got started, just kept finding more to do. Well, 2 daylilies got planted. Watered pots on front porch and moved them out for the fresh air. Then got to clean the front deck. Sure feels good to be outside. Now for a shower and some quilting.
On nice days qb sews on her deck and I join her. |
I live in central Texas, this time of year its usually windy, temps in the 90s and clear skies.
My pieces would be everywhere, I'd be sweaty and sunburned(natural red head). Therefore I'm quite content to sew inside with the a/c on. :D Sharon |
yes I do. so I hsd an outlet put just outside my sewing room, have my patio table out there, and of course, a free machine or two to use outside. for some reason, I still prefer being inside to sew, I do have air cond.
I love sunny days winter or summer, but hate the heat. And here in SW Arkansas it gets very hot and humid. So I usually sew, crochet, compute, etc. in the A/C in a sunny room overlooking a lake. I usually feel gloomy on cloudy or rainy days and don't get much of anything done.
No....not at all....LOL
Awww.... to quilt or not to quilt with guilt? No guilt here. If I have chores to do they get done first. A little discipline goes a long way to squash that feeling of guilt. If I have yard work it gets taken care of in increments of time but no more than an hour a day. Same thing with the house. Alittle more time with the cooking. I grew up on a farm and old habits have stuck with me regarding productivity. I am busy and get a lot accomplished but my day is planned, even down time. I take care of my MIL that is 90 years old and has dementia(spell check is needed here). My own mother gets one day a week and it has been a great thing to do for myself as well as for my mom. My dad passed away a year ago. Mom will be 86 in July. I have a large combined family. Together my husband and I have 7 living children and one deceased. With their spouses that totals 14 adults that are now in their 30's and 40's. 19 grandchildren from 2 months to 22 years of age. We have a revolving door. I have always worked, mostly as a case worker. I am now retired but take that retired with a smile. I also watch my newest grandson 2 days a week and a 1st grade granddaughter before and after school. There are many coordinated efforts made to make this all work but it does. I couldn't do it without help and without being organized. I quilt between stuff and after stuff and sometimes an entire day, but quilt I do and I love it. NO GUILT RAIN OR SHINE.
Not really as I will go outside for a while but unfortunately where we live there are so many mosquitoes that you really can't stay out that long even if you want to.
Nope, its already in the 80's and 90's here when its not storming and tornado's are flying through. I am happy to stay close to home. I hand quilt so I go out on my porch and quilt while the kids play in the yard when it's not too hot and the weather cooperates.
ya that would be a big NO for me to. It is 6:30 AM and in the 70's by the time to sun come out it would be in the hight 80's and mugie out you really do not wont to lay out in that . This is really the only time I like to be out there. Any way it not good for you.
