Guilty

Do you ever feel guilty for sewing when it is so nice outside? Like you should be out there soaking up the sun that is not filtered by the screen on the window? :)

DebraK 05-19-2013 02:10 PM

nope, not at all.

Auntevie 05-19-2013 02:11 PM

Haha! I do! I am sometimes secretly happy when it's raining out!

dd 05-19-2013 02:12 PM

Nope! I don't like being hot in the sun. don't like being sunburned. don't like bugs. don't like to sweat. don't like wind blowing my project around. don't like gardening.
I do like to sew in the comfort of my home with screens and sunshades and air conditioning and TV and all the other comforts.
I do hang my laundry out though.

Stitchnripper 05-19-2013 02:14 PM

No, I gave up being guilty about things like that long time ago. I go with the flow now.

glenda5253 05-19-2013 02:28 PM

I've been known to have some guilty pangs when it is gorgeous outside and I am stuck in my windowless sewing room.

Txsuthrn 05-19-2013 02:44 PM

I fight this all the time. I want to sew but there always seems to be something, puppies to tend to, chickens, husband, dishes, laundry.....I'm sure everyone is the same to a degree.. I just have to some days just say I AM sewing today!! lol

hopetoquilt 05-19-2013 03:32 PM

I do a bit of both, sewing and ruining around in nice weather.

SavedByGrace 05-19-2013 03:34 PM

Yes, I do. However, if I make a quick appearance outside once in awhile, that seems to appease that guilty feeling. ;)

michelleoc 05-19-2013 03:36 PM

Nope. My dog tries to make me feel guilty though. He looks at me like he's wondering why he has to be stuck with me in my sewing room when HE could be out in the sunshine!

VickieW 05-19-2013 03:37 PM

No, it is air conditioned in the house. LOL

Dyan 05-19-2013 03:41 PM

NOPE, If I had my way it would be 80 during the day, and 60 at night, I turn my air on the first warm day, and only go out side to get in my car.

sewbeadit 05-19-2013 03:43 PM

When the sun comes out is when I really want to sew! Go figure.

nativetexan 05-19-2013 04:23 PM

he, he. I have three cats, two of them always let me know it's nice outside and they want to go walking. they go out on a leash. usually when I mow or pull weeds or have time to just sit (in the shade).

I agree never feel guilty unless my baby really wants my time

IrishNY 05-19-2013 05:50 PM

I don't feel guilty when it's sunny but I notice that I really like sewing when it's raining out. Don't know why.

ontheriver 05-19-2013 05:53 PM

No feeling guilty at all! Don't like to be out in the sun. My house has lots of big windows so I get to see the outside all day. I also have a wraparound covered porch so when I am outside I am still not in direct sun.

amyjo 05-19-2013 05:56 PM

it rained all day today so nope, had to do some work.

EdieClay 05-19-2013 06:38 PM

Nope, life too short to feel guilty for doing something you love.

deedum 05-19-2013 06:49 PM

sometimes. it is no fun to be in the sewing room thinking I should be outside. I do like it when it rains and I just can't be out and I can sew. Didn't get any sewing done today.

moonwork42029 05-19-2013 07:00 PM

Nope...did it today too in fact. Had intentions of getting dressed and dying my hair but oh well...tomorrow's another day.

I don't even hang out the laundry. I hate summer and hot weather. No guilt here.

Quiltaddiction 05-19-2013 07:11 PM

In nice weather I sew in my family room which has a triple glass door looks out to the pool. Occassionally I look up at the water. When its really hot the doors are closed and the AC is on and in bad wether which is when I love to sew the most CH is on and I'm snug with my quilting. Life is good. My fur babies prefer to stay in with me but can come and go and still see me through all the glass.

Nammie to 7 05-19-2013 09:04 PM

I'm outside enough so I don't feel guilty. I have more of a tendency to get upset when I can't sew!

CRO 05-19-2013 09:17 PM

Here on the farm I spend almost every nice day outside. I tend to only quilt in the winter months and rainy days. I'm good with that as I love being outside.

blahel 05-19-2013 10:37 PM

nothing beats the feeling of the warm sun on your skin while the birds are singing and working up a sweat while gardening and then admiring your flowers etc...but then again i love the hum of the sewing machine with Michael Buble on and being creative on a rainy day so I have the best of both worlds!

busy fingers 05-19-2013 10:43 PM

I often move my sewing machine to the table on our patio so that I can have the best of both worlds. I also move my cutting board outside on a non breezy day.

DOTTYMO 05-19-2013 10:52 PM

Never feel quillty I'm a free spirit and do what I want when I want. Any way isn't the sun bad for you. It is for me hay fever sneezing, burnt skin itchy arm legs can't see and need to shut curtains so I can see to sew. I must admit I like the spring and autumn when the seasons change and beautiful colours of trees and flowers and a camera is quick and lasting reminders.

me too! I get so little time to sew that I also welcome the rain sometimes!

Teacup 05-20-2013 02:47 AM

I feel guilty for not sewing...I have a lot of projects waiting for me, but I'm wiped out after work, and, on the weekends, the yard is now demanding all my attention. I now I have a deadline coming up and the project's not done!

mic-pa 05-20-2013 02:53 AM

No guilt here, I can sit by my sliding glass door and enjoy the outside while I sew. Allergies keep me inside most of the time. Never work outside. DD and DH do all the mowing, gardening etc.

jitkaau 05-20-2013 02:54 AM

I resent any reason for stopping.

jmoore 05-20-2013 03:06 AM

Summers are too short here in Maine and I just purchased a new kayak... we have plenty of long (often snowy) winter days to quilt but an extremely short summer to enjoy gardening, hiking and the beautiful outdoors.

twinkie 05-20-2013 03:10 AM

Not at all when I am doing what I really love.

quiltmom04 05-20-2013 04:04 AM

Nope. I can still see how beautiful it is outside! I used to feel bad when my sewing room was in the in-windowed basement though.

gramacheri 05-20-2013 04:11 AM

NO! I don't like the sun much. If it's too warm outside I get crankier than normal.

sparkys_mom 05-20-2013 04:11 AM

I try to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Coffee on the deck listening to and watching the birds, grooming my dog. It is very soothing and I love it. When it is cool, I try to do a little gardening. At night and when it rains, there is plenty of time for sewing. Now all I need is to find time for cleaning. :D

lclang 05-20-2013 04:12 AM

Yes! I can hear the weeds in the flower bed calling me, the dog needs to go out and I keep seeing yard stuff that I need to do...but then I go back to my sewing room with the blinds drawn so I can't see the yard and just sew away.

I agree with your statement, no more guilt. I try to work what I have to do in, but, if I need a break I do my thing which just happens to be quilting/sewing, no guilt there.

Weezy Rider 05-20-2013 04:47 AM

Rather be outside in nice weather.
