I don't like Rowenta, either. One I bought burned up one day -- just as I set it on some fabric....burned a hole in the fabric in a half a second. Bought the big one I use for $35.00 at a box-store. The little one I use the most is a travel iron I bought about 30 yrs ago!

I bought the Rowenta and it is so heavy it wears me out just after 5 minutes of pressing or ironing!!!
So it sits in the cupboard while I use my 20 year old B&D!!
I don't know how heavy your new iron is but this may be something for you to think about!!!

I have a Rowenta. Never had a problem and mine does not auto shut off. I did go to Walmart and purchase a cheaper iron to use just with starch, has a teflon bottom. The Rowenta is what hubby uses for his shirts so couldn't leave the bottom dirty.

I have heard very good reports on the Shark irons. I dislike my Rowenta as it has that crappy auto shutoff.

I, also,. have a Sunbeam w/auto shutoff in 15 mins., just touch to turn back on, works well....have an older Rowenta no trouble w/it, no auto shutoff...

I have and Oliso and I love it so good. Once you get used to using it other irons seem a pain having to set them up all the time.

Had to throw my Oliso away because the lifting mechanism quit working after a few months and couldn't get any satisfaction from company. Have a Panasonic I bought at Walmart and love it. Lightweight, does shut off after about 10 minutes but heats extremely quick!

When this Rowenta poops out. I will replace with a less expensive one from WM. It will not have a auto shut off, I hope!!

I have a Rowenta and haven't had a problem yet. When it is time to replace, I would like to get the Oliso for my next one.

I've had Sharks & Rowenta's ~ all of them leak...I like a heavier iron and just haven't been able to find the right "fit" for me. I keep forgetting to go check the thrift stores. =)
