teddy's mom, if you're anywhere near Gastonia NC, have you visited Mary Jo's Cloth Store there? Check out
http://maryjos.com/

I've been three times on overnight trips with other members of guilds here. She has everything from cotton to wedding fabrics and I can spend the day just looking through the notions!

Yeah, it's like needing just a loaf of bread at the grocers. That was certainly an expensive loaf of bread. Only need a spool of thread----same thing. LOL But I love it.

Make sure you allow yourself many hours, after the WOW wears off then you can start to think what you would like to buy. whether its thread, patterns, books, or FABRIC. It really is a great place. I live in Wisconsin, and any chance I get I will go to Paducah just for the Hancocks store. The gals at one of the quilt stores I frequent made the stop in Paducah on there way to Tennessee and were so awed they didn't know what direction to go first. They said they are planning another trip.

Yes, I'm in Stanley which is just about 10 miles from Mary Jo's. Go there for all my fabric & my daughter buys all her quilting materials from there.

My DH and I were in Paducah in August. We were on vacation and visited family in Kentucky so HEsuggested we stop in Paducah on the way home. I was impressed with Hancocks of Paducah. There was a hugh selection and the staff was very friendly. My DH sat onthe bench in the front of the store and had a nice conversation with another DH sitting there. The wife and I had never met but we visited while we were shopping. Quilting brings people of all ages together where ever you are. The museum was the highlight of my trip!!! The quilts there were amazing!!! A few of them had been pictured in Quilters Newsletter Magazine but they were so much better in person!! I want to go again!!
