The closest one is over 45 minutes away and I have to drive through a bad area to get to it. I wish there was one closer.

Same here, and it was a pitiful excuse of store before it shut down.

They closed all their stores in central Florida. It was no great loss.

Now that is a thoughtful husband.

We have a Hancocks here and I buy there often.
It usually is a mess with antique furniture of all sorts down the middle a isle, etc. They dont usually have more than two employes in the whole store and one has to stand and wait for help, Guess they are better than Hobby Lobby as it is on the other side of our town and they are expensive. I noticed today the middle a isle was clean and bare.

I liked Hancock's, which was near my home. When they first moved here, they annihilated the competition, two favorite fabric stores where I had shopped for years. Then Joann's came along and gave Hancock's too much competition, so when they closed a slew of stores, our neighborhood store was one of them.

In defense of the people who work the Hancock stores: I use to work for them (all od 2009) and I know for a fact that as a money saving tactic the coroporate office cut the manger's labor hours down so much that they cannot schedule enough help for the business the store has. It makes it hard for the 2 (sometimes 3) people who are there to keep things neat and orderly. That is one of the reasons I no longer work there.

The Hancocks near me was closed. Still have store in Austin and I buy Alexander Henry and batik. They seem to pay the rent with decorator items and fabric is just incidental. I don't like Joanne's at all. We have a wonderful quilt store in New Braunfels, Quilt Haus. Thank goodness.

There is a Hancock's 50 mi from where I live. It's in Lynnwood, WA but they put a civic center right next to it and the parking is horrible! The events at the center keep the parking spaces pretty full a lot of the time. The clerk told me they are looking for a new location but I haven't heard if they've found it yet. I've also gone to the 2 in Spokane, WA when I'm over there. There's one in the Valley and one on N. Division. The NDiv one was closed last year when I was there due to remodel. I'll have to check it out this summer when I'm over that way. There are a number of JoAnn's stores close to me (Marysville, Everett, Lynnwood & Bellingham). The Marysville one is the worst of them but I just found out they will be moving to the north (called Smokey Pt. area) and will open in the winter. That's only about 20 min. from me! I buy fabric where I can afford it but I check to make sure it's okay.

Same here! The clerks are so friendly and helpful at my store I love it! They will ask me if I am on break from my job down the street or off from work. I go so much!

Many of the Hancock's stores closed and there are not too many left.

I have purchased fabric from them in Las Vegas (visiting) and St. Louis (on vacation) and their fabric is in no way inferior. In fact, they carry many of the manufacturers that you do not see in Joann's like Michael Miller, Timeless Treasurers and Shamash.

If you have a store in your area, check them out. I think that you will be pleased
