The Hancock's in Hendersonville, TN closed down 2 years ago. Some of their fabric was alright but there was alot of cheap looking fabric. I shop at Joann's occasionally, if I have too, but rather shop at a couple of Quilting shops in Lebanon, Tn. Joann's personnel acts like they wish you would go away, so that's why I prefer private quilting shops.

We have one in LaCrosse, WI and I really like it. They have a great selection of fabrics but many are quite expensive. However the have 40% off sales and sometimes $2 off a yd so that's always a good time to buy. Also I have a Hancock discount card so get a little off some items. A couple of their staff are quilters and they are always willing to help you select fabric for a pattern when they have time.

I don't have one by me, but I don't have money so would not matter. God bless. Penny

Our JoAnn's closed several years ago, but we still have a Hancock's, which is about 30 miles from me. I have two quilt shops I love to shop at, one in Panama City, FL and one in Crestview, FL. I don't like Hancock's because they have furniture, etc. on one half of the store and fabric on the other. I like a lot of fabric to choose from and if I want to shop for furniture, etc. I'll go to a furniture store, but the cost of quilt shop fabric seems to be forever going up, but it is great fabric.

The one near me closed its doors last year. JoAnn's is a thirty-five min. drive, and Wal-Mart is 5 min away.So I go to Wal-Mart. They keep talking about getting rid of the fabric and craft area but it does a lot of business.

We have 2 Walmarts in our area that still have fabric. One is not having their fabric 50% OFF and I understand in October they will no longer have fabric. That will leave only 1 with fabric.

Do not confuse Hancock's with Hancock's of Paducah. They are not the same store. I will not buy from our nearest Hancock's but order often from Hancock's of Paducah.

Honest??? I hate Hancocks! Never go there!
I buy all my fabric from Marshall Dry Goods  |

well of course a shop owner would say that. not all shop owners, to be sure. most are ethical and wouldn't trash the competition like that. :hunf:
hancock's fabrics run nearly the whole Snooty Scale ... from 1 to 8. (scale is 1 to 10) and here's a news flash. not all LQS carry 9s and 10s. so there. |
