For those who like to do Hexies, stars etc by hand you should try "All about Inklingo" patterns by Linda Franz its easy quick and accurate. Look it up and they have lots of help also and a great group.

This is Sew beautiful!! I would not take out the hand quilting. This already has a lot of work in it. Would you show a close up?

I hand quilted a double wedding ring, now all my children want it. All my other quilts are machine quilted.

re: Hand Quilting...wish I had looked here first
I"m a hand quilter and love Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 and Fons and Porter's quilt needles. I"ve used all different needles and they seem to last the longest without bending or breaking.

Suze, your quilt is stunning! Beautiful design!
I've been using Quilter's Dream Cotton batting....the lightest one in the line. Really nice for hand quilting. Hand quilting is much easier to remove than machine stitching. Personally, I would prefer to do that and start over with a batting that makes the quilting process a joy rather than frustration and pain. You might do a search on QB for types of batting people prefer for hand quilting. Good luck and hope you'll post a photo of your quilt when it's finished. |
gorgeous:)

I have been in the same boat as you. I too had a hexie and sandwiched it with warm & natural and started hand quilting. I had approx. 1/3 or better and took it all apart and started over with hobbs 80/20. Took no time to finish and I enjoyed working on it, not saying to myself Oh how I hate working on this. Now I have switched to wool and cream rose by mountain mist. I will never use anything else. Hope you come to a decision and can move on from here. As I said to myself, lesson well learned.

To remove or redo is your choice, but I love your arrangement of the hexies.

It is beautiful! I am a sucker, I would struggle to finish it a small bit at a time . Or change the batting as was suggested. I wonder if it would change the appearance if the batting was changed.........
