the GFG quilt that i layered today has be worked on in trains, planes, automobiles and buses (no motorcycles, or bicycles built for two, have to draw the line somewhere)it has been to eleven states and two provinces and even once spent Christmass eve all night in Chicago (O'Hare)which proves you can hand piece anywhere, anytime :)

I used to get terribly carsick, but the last year or two, I find that I love to hand sew. I always have some kind of sewing project. I think I might have trouble doing applique, and I'm still learning to get better. But, I do a lot of embroidery (red work), quilt binding, etc. We drove from CA to WY and back and I did two sashiko pillow tops. I enjoyed it so much that I bought 4 more similar kits with different designs to make a 6 block quilt. I can hardly wait to get started on them. But, today, I rode about 5 hours and enjoyed "The Quilt Life" most of the way. There is a lot of inspiration in this Aug. issue.

I always bring a few projects when travelling. I love to talk to my DH while working on a binding or hexagons, even quilting on my lap hoop! Especially now, we just bought a RV! So I can sew or quilt and have more space around me!
I’m happy I’m not the only one!!! :) Patricia |
WE all hated my Daddy's driving. Mother would take her crocheting and the worse Daddy drove the faster she would crochet. Thankfully they both got out alive.

I'm not a handquilter, but never make any longer trips without a current crocheting project close at hand. I've finished more baby afghans this way, especially lately since it seems to be a "baby bump" year! Even in this current heat wave, with the auto AC, I've been able to get four afghans finished & one more almost done. :-)

I can't either car sickness isn't a joke

Yes I love to do hand work while riding in the car. Helps to pass the time.

When my husband was still living and doing the driving, I would crochet while riding.

Tee-Hee, I don't dare to hand quilt.....I am the driver! Single women seldom experience the passanger seat!

I even took a bag of cut out blocks when I went in the hospital for 10 days. It helps to have something to do when you are waiting.
