I would not put loops on the pot holders, as I never hang mine up and have no place to hang them anyway, so save yourself some work and leave them off.

I keep mine in a drawer--no hanging loop.
|
I add a hanging loop to my potholders but put in the middle of a side and it lays flat against the back. It's easy it flip up if want to hang and out if the way and not visible if using as trivet on counter or table.

I have made both kinds and prefer the loop.

I keep mine on the counter by the stove, so no loops for me.

Love loops, I have several cup holders hanging beneath the countertops. They are handy to grab.

I like doing the hanging loops on potholders. I start my binding at a corner and go around the pot holder doing my nice square corners. I leave an extra bit of binding on the last corner so I can sew over the starting raw edge and use the extra binding for the loop. This way I am not bothered by having to do a binding join.
oh, sorry, i do put loops on those that i have made for seasonal decorations to be hung for show |

I prefer with a hanging loop. I find that without a hanging loop, I can't seem to find room for the potholders in my kitchen except on the wall.

I like to hang mine. I sew a plastic ring (get them in a package in Jo-Anns) in the corner. I do this on the machine with a zig zag with zero length stitch.
