I recently read a post about blades from Harbor Freight but there was no description of them. Can anyone supply me with more information about the blades? Thanks!
Sooo Happy |
They are "replacement carpet cutter blades".....item 97642 2 pieces in the package. Hope this helps:)

They are called carpet cutter blades, they come in 2 per pkg. for about $1.79. They only fit the 45mm rotory cutter, and they work great, just be sure and wipe off the oil that they have on them. And be careful, and make sure you use just one blade. You have to ask someone in the store to show you where they are at. The store has so many things in it...Hope this helps, you can also order on line.

These are the same blades you buy in your chain store or LQS for big $'s because they're packaged for us quilters. The ones at HF are sold for carpet cutting. My husband was a machinist & he says metal is metal, they might not be polished quite as well, but at approx dollar apiece (or less if you get them on sale, in Oregon, lol ) how can you go wrong? I've been using them for a couple of years and only ever found one that I couldn't use from the getgo, just toss it over your shoulder like Eleanor Burns and get another one out. lol
They fit any 45 mm rotary cutter you may have. I just checked and they're still on sale for $1.49 http://www.harborfreight.com/pack-of...des-97642.html Happy cutting! |
You will love them and the price is right!!!!

I use these and they are great. However, I think there are rotary cutters out there that have little pieces that jut out where the blades fit, so the blades need to have a notch in the hole, I believe it is the Dritz cutter. I don't think these blades will fit those cutters.

In my opinion, they dont last as long as your LQS blades. I don't I'll buy anymore.
|
love them and the price is realistic and not inflated because quilters use them

Had to laff today at Sit n Sew, my friend said 'OH, have I found something neat..' I said oh?, she says 'there's this place called Harbour Freight, and I got 6 pkgs (all they had) of rotary blades for 1.49 for 2 in a pkg'. I said OH yeh, they're carpet blades....(for once I knew something before she did - thanks to QB...) hahaha She was elated to have found them...Even if they don't last as long, for .75 a pc, you can afford to change more often..

I just ordered 4 pkg. They work for me.
|
I order mine on line - harbor freight.com and get lots - postage remains the same if you order 1 pkg as if you order several.
|
I have many pkgs and am very happy with them. I got them on sale at 2 for 1.49. Once in a while I will have one that doesn't cut so well so I'll toss it.
They are well worth the money! As far as how long they last...I don't notice a difference between those and the pricey blades. |
Thanks for the info on the carpet blades!!! I plan to try them for sure!
