Barb Z, it is 28 degrees right now, 1:40am central time zone here in Pensacola, FL. Thus far, no snow here; it is rare for us to get it, but on occasion we have.

I have a Martelli rotary cutter and had lost the spring. My LQS was able to contact her supplier and he (gladly) sent me two new springs. He also told her to tell me that the Martelli brand blades have a notch in them so they have a nice tight fit; and if I'm having problems with the cutter, I should stick to the blades made for it. I do notice when I cut through thick fabric, my cutter wants to 'wobble' and doesn't always cut through all the layers. So I recommend that for regular cotton fabric, use any blade you have, and for the really thick fabric, use the Martelli blade in the Martelli cutter.

I bought blades from HF for my Olfa cutter. The blades fit, but the hole in the center is round and when I cut through several fabric thicknesses the blade rolls. It rolls right over the fabric instead of cuttting the fabric. Works OK if I'm just cutting 1 layer of fabric. I'm glad I only bought a couple blades, because I won't buy anymore. Will just buy my blades when they are on sale, and sharpen them.

They do have locations in Florida...not sure about all the locations, but they're in Holly Hill, near Daytona. There's also one near Lakeland. I had never heard of HF until I read some of the posts on this Board and was surprised to find one located not far from where I live. It was a while before I was able to purchase the blades, though, because they were always on back order. One day I stopped in and found 2 pkgs. They sell them as fast as they come in...lol.

Go to their website....Martelli Enterprises ... and click on demonstration videos. There are several, with close ups and easy to follow directions. When you replace the blade (which I have not in over a year, and it's still sharp enough to cut thro 10 or more layers) or the spring, the lint is easy to take out.

For Sandraphippard, I just ordered a Martelli rotary cutter and when I called was told if I chose to order the type with the casing that needs to be cleaned, take a wire twist tie- with paper removed, and push clogged fabric out. Hope this helps.

Mission Lady you Floridians are considered lucky. You are the only state in the nation including Hawaii that has no snow on the ground. LOL My sister is in Fort Myers and it was 34 there last night. Brrrrrrr. We love it here but I wouldn't if I lived there.
