The vintage Necchi is a great machine.

I have a Necchi that I won in a contest when I was just 11. It still sews beautifully!

Do you want to know that I wore out my Necchi? The bearings in the motor froze up, and to loosen them, I would drop it straight onto the floor from a few inches above.....when there was squalling and screeching as I sewed, my DH finally whispered in my ear, "Honey, why don't you buy yourself a new sewing machine?" (I bought a Kenmore that is the same as the Janome DC2010).

Just yesterday, a woman at our chruch was telling about the sewing machine her hubby brought back from Italy some 50 years ago as his wedding gift to her. It was a Necchi. She said it's been going strong 50+ years.

Glad you asked this question. I just purchased a like new Necchi at a garage sale in excellent condition. I paid $25.00 for it but didn't know if that was a good price.

I inherited my Mom's Necchi. I learned to sew on that machine. Mom sewed everything on it. most of my school clothes, my maternity clothes etc. I have not used it in a long time, but it's here if her Bernina goes south.

It's a great machine

I've never owned a Necchi but they've been around for years and years. I think I'd get it if it's reasonably priced and give it a try.
