I bought a Necchi in I think it was 1973 or there a bouts...it is a great machine...never had a problem with it...still have it but now also have a Kenmore my hubby bought me cause I wanted a free arm...I will always keep my Necchi!

I had a necchi machine many, many years ago and it was a delight to use and very dependable. Have not even thought of them in years, but I really liked the one I had.

Never heard of them, but if they work buy them it never hurts to have extra machines

My first serger was the Necchi Pro Lock PL1026. It was a small workhorse for about 12 years until I had a problem where the needles wouldn't lock into the needle holder. In '08 I took it into the sewing machine store where I purchased it and they told me that they didn't have parts because the company went out of business some time ago. It is useful if I really work on securing the needles but I had to replace it with a computerized Viking (big mistake there--wish I'd bought a Bernina). Just be aware parts might be hard to find for them. If they are in good working order and the price is right, go for it!

I traded a White for a Necchi in 1953. I am still using it for heavey duty sewing. Yes it has the cams and the toggle handle for the zig zag. It's like a "Maytag." lol

Necchi bought in 1960 as a demo for $100, traveled in back seat of my car for many years (to do Mother's mending and alterations) while I was a teacher. It has an oak cabinet, since 1968 to use when I want good, basic seams. I took tailoring classes with this machine, made many garments on it until about 1985, alterations until about 2000. Other less-valued/priced machines since 1970s I have given away, currently use Necchi with a New Home (Hancock of Miss. model) when any decorative or zig-zag is wanted, Easy to clean, oil. I would nab one under your circumstances.

I would grab them if I were you. They are supposed to be very well made and last a long time.

My mom had a Necchi when I was growing up. It had little plastic cams that you would pop in at the top to change the decorative stitch. What a great machine. She made all my clothes with it. Wish I still had it today..NOW that I can appreciate it. =)
