I have a Fleetwood that I have had for 40 years. My mom a dad got it for me for highschool gradutation in 1971. It has been serviced only once. I love it.

My first machine was a necchi. I bought it used from a friends mother for $35. That was over 25 years ago. I absolutely loved it. I gifted to a friend when I was gifted with a new singer. Many time I wished I had kept my necchi.

We refurbish sewing machines and Necchi is one of my personal favorites. The newer ones like all other companies are made in Tiwan and I am not so hot on those. The stich quality, the motor size and amps, the ease of handling,nice lines and so on and so on. They were known for using top models like Sophia Loren etc. At one point they were labeled the sexiest machine because of their curvines. One of the models has a permanent place in the museum of modern art. They are a great machine. The only probelm is I can't keep them all.

Necchi is a good machine. It was popular in the 50's.

mom had one and now I have it. I haven't sewed on it in years....but it is a good machine.

I have my Mother's old Necchi and it is in a desk. She used to make my diapers 65 years ago on this machine. Knowing my Mom, it has the original needle. Nobody in the family wants it and the desk is made of mahogany (?)so it weighs a ton. Don't remember if it works, because I always hated sewing. I am downsizing and would love to sell it.

I have my M0m's Necchi which is at least 50 yrs. old. It runs like a charm and also has plastic discs that you insert to decorative stitching. Mine is a portable with one drawback. It is VERY HEAVY!! It's a good thing I am a farmwife w/ some muscles!! I love it and use it often and
would not part w/ it!!!

It was a popular brand name some years back and never heard of anyone being dis-satisfied with them.

Necchi and Elna were once upon a time sold together and both were fabulous work-horse machines in their day. My Elna is still in service when I need a machine that won't throw fits when asked to do a hard job and I bought her in 1964 and sewed all the kids clothes on her. She never knew the inside of a shop, I cleaned and oiled her myself and she never needed a Dr.

my dad bought me a top-of-the-line necchi when i was 14 and i used it until i was 60. every day, garment and quilt making. the thing would not die. i used it for custom tailoring and bridal wear and it was the most reliable machine i ever owned and i have never owned fewer than two at a time. the brushes finally wore down to where they could no longer be fixed and then it was retired to our vacation house and put out to stud. sadly, it never reproduced.
