It sounds good to me, let her have it.

I think you should just leave the colors as she likes them. My daughter picked out fabrics for a quilt my mom made her. She picked out 4 colors that don't go with each other at all. It hurts my eyes to look at the quilt...but it is one of her favorite quilts(the only one she likes better is the one she picked out when she was 1 year old). She uses it all the time and is very happy with it. We each have our own styles and likes and dislikes. There might be something that triggers good memories with the fabric she picked out. we'll never know. :)

I agree with everybody-do with what she picked out. Not only will it be special because you made it for her with what she picked out, but it will show her that you respect her choices and are treating her decisions with the respect reserved for adults. A big step in growing up for her. She will love the quilt and you even more. IMHO.

You might be surprised in the end ... but maybe you could ask her to look at samples ... for your piece of mind...

You might be surpised in the end... but maybe for your piece of mind you could ask her to look at samples of the blocks... one her way and one your way...

I think I would go with what she picked out. Or maybe you could make up two sample blocks, one with her colors and one with the color you add. Let her see the difference. She may still prefer the colors she has chosen.
