Lynnie, Yes, you are lucky. As am I. My DH is the greatest treasure in my life!

Can't say that it's happened to me, but it's a great story. Good way to start my day. :-)

My husband has always been very supportive of my sewing and quilting. We have been married 58 years. The first year we were married he supported buying a new "fancy" sewing machine. He has supported my taking sewing classing to learn new techniques when I sewed for the family including pants and sport jackets for him. He was proud to wear them. When I started quilting he was a willing consultant and helped me with fabric selection, quilting motifs. He has a good eye for design and distribution of color and pattern on scrap quilts. When I was hand quilting he built 2 3-rail quilting frames for me. He has let me upgrade my sewing machine every few years. Never complained about my "mess" or the house when it didn't get cleaned when it should have. Been content with "leftovers" for supper. When we travel he is willing to stop at quilt shops even though they may be out of the way. He is "one in a million" in my eyes.

My husband will simply ask "How's it going....and do you need anything I can help you do?" (such as moving furniture to get enough space to quilt). Sometimes I think I'll keep him around...LOL....love him!!

Mine understands it is a hobby, but does not comprehend when I am starting new plans when the others aren't done yet. (I get sick of working on the same color ALL the time....well that's my story anyway, lol). He does get a puzzled look and says "you're making "Another" one? I just say....you're changing the oil in the car....Again?
He smiles and walks away. After almost 28 yrs married and 30 years together he's finally getting the idea of when it is a losing argument. :)

My DH always enters saying, " In the sweat shop again?". But never complains about how many rooms I've taken over.

DH: Stefka was asking about you, I told her you've been busy quilting. She asked why? I said you were trying to win a contest.

me: ?? I am? What contest?

DH: That UFO thing.

me: (laughing) There's no winner, it's just a challenge.

DH: shrugs, OK

morale of the story, he only understands half of what I say because he listens with with one ear. But he's a sweetie and very supportive of my hobbies. I was complaining how expensive the quilting fabric was with the Canadian dollar being so low - he said "buy it anyway if you want it".

This reminds me of when I was going to school (wife and mother returning to college), although he didn't say it, my DH's attitude was "when are you going to be done with this?" Once he did say when he learned I was not taking summer classes, "So we're getting you back?"

Mine DH just leaves me alone to quilt as he has chosen to leave me alone with all of my other projects.

Clearly he is!
