usually it's the simplest thing that you don't think to check.

Veronica 07-31-2011 11:41 AM

Your so funny.

Val in IN 07-31-2011 11:43 AM

Thanks for the laugh :-)) and the reminder too!!

RobertaMarie 07-31-2011 01:08 PM

Bless your heart, of course we have all done something like that. (sigh)

Quiltbeagle 07-31-2011 01:09 PM

LOL!

Greenheron 07-31-2011 01:13 PM

yes, Yes, YES!! TWICE. I even bought a used machine after I couldn't find anyone to work on my "broken" Singer. On the plus side I now have a lovely 1920's Singer in a beautiful cabinet that is just the best for piecing. It is small and attractive and can stay in my living room--perfect for evening work. Win some, lose some.

Mis. E 07-31-2011 02:51 PM

TOO Funny I've done that and Im still laughing everytime I think about it

lollygagging 07-31-2011 02:52 PM

I am soooooooooo glad I'm in good company! This brought a big smile to my face and a chuckle to my tummy!

I guess I can laugh now :)

CAS49OR 07-31-2011 03:44 PM

lol! reminds me of when I was working tech support for Gateway. Person got "works out of the box" pc. Couldn't figure out why mouse didn't work. After formatting the computer I asked if she had plugged it in!

MS quilter 07-31-2011 05:19 PM

When I step on the pedal and nothing happens, I try again, then, uh-oh, turn it on!! So frustrating!!

frankie love 07-31-2011 07:50 PM

the singer 401 is a good machine ,every machine repiarman has told me that was best machine singer ever made . I have been usssseing mine since 1958 and it still sews perfect ,I've had it serviced several times.I've had others but none compair to it .

Dee 07-31-2011 08:14 PM

You're not the only one.

penski 07-31-2011 08:50 PM

Lucky Patsy's 07-31-2011 09:04 PM

Although time consuming, glad it was an easy, inexpensive, fix!

yes, I like cheap fixes :)

marscrafter 07-31-2011 09:08 PM

LOL I've done that a few times on my old machine, such a pain.

moonrise 07-31-2011 10:17 PM

I know somebody (not me! LOL!) who somehow managed to plug a power strip into itself, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work.

ShirlR 08-01-2011 12:28 AM

LOL! Thank you for sharing! This was my chuckle for the day! Glad I'm not the only one!

justlooking 08-01-2011 02:28 AM

LOL, sounds like me! Aren't you glad you didn't need o take your machine in for repair.

QBeth 08-01-2011 03:27 AM

What I find amazing is the number of variations of this problem. Cord unplugged. Power strip not on. Stepping on the foot pedal for another machine sitting next to mine. :-) The possibilities are endless!

MarilynLouise 08-01-2011 09:55 AM

Isn't it great to be human? I guess we need to laugh at ourselves sometimes.

SharonTheriault 08-01-2011 10:50 AM

How funny! How truly indicative of the things we forget to do when we are in our sewing rooms.

CAS49OR 08-01-2011 02:57 PM

I thought my machine "died". I was at a class at the time. Turned out I had dimmed the display all the way down. Since I couldn't see the icons to press "sew" the machine wasn't going to do anything. lol! The dimmer switch (in my Janome) is right by the thread spool so I had accidentally turned it while threading the machine.

I accidentally found out what I did after unplugging and replugging the connections several times.

So funny! I've done that too. You almost want to look around to see if anyone else saw you do that. Oh well you're ready to go now.

BuzzinBumble 08-02-2011 04:42 PM

Such a funny tale and I know we can all relate! If not with sewing machines...surely other items lurk in electrical infamy.

JeanDal 08-03-2011 08:51 AM

LOL! Yep.

frankie love 08-04-2011 11:40 AM

I once cut out dress for my daughter , set up my machine on table and then remembered the electric was not on yet, as we had just moved in .Had to laugh at myself. Well could have been worse.

roxie623 08-07-2011 11:52 AM

LOL you are not alone as I even went so far as to call a friend who was an electrician. I knew my machine worked as I had been sewing earlier in the day. Oh well, it happens.

good one :)

CAS49OR 08-07-2011 12:22 PM

I used to work tech support for Gateway PC. I had a customer call telling me her mouse didn't work. We tried formatting and reinstalling everything, couldn't seem to get it to work. I finally had the bright idea of asking if she had plugged in the mouse........

LOL! Sometimes, the easiest solutions are the ones not seen.

The PC did say "ready to go out of the box"

ging10ging 08-08-2011 10:54 AM

Been there, at least it wasn't the machine. Sue
