I have two. A fun and done that was not fun and I was so glad it was done. After fighting that "easy quilt" I read on here that you should never use poly batting because it is so thick. Wish I would have known that BEFORE I started. LOL! The other is a Bonnie Hunter stepping stones. It was one of my first quilts after joining this group. I used 30's fabric and the stepping stones were black and white. I really liked it until someone made the comment that they didn't like it because my color choices were so wrong. The black and White just didn't go with those repro fabrics. I think I will go get it out and see if I don't like it because my pride was hurt. I have more confidence now. I actually think picking colors is my strong suit. I may just like it.
And that fun and done is thrown in the back of my Jeep and used at picnics and soccer games. The seams are coming apart and it is not going to get fixed. |
I made a queen size Card Tricks quilt, had a fat batt in it and was hand quilted every half inch with black quilting thread. It was a hard to quilt. I broke and bent many a needle,it was missing many points. It took 7 yrs to finish. I gifted it DH's Aunt, she just loved it, I named it "The Pointless Card Game".

That made me laugh out loud. I hope you didn't say "gosh that is still ugly" to them. Thanks for the chuckle.

The one I hated was a simple framed rectangle pattern. I was trying to make it bright and colorful for aTeenager charity quilt, but my fabric selections were just awful. All those colors mixed together in the blocks looked like my dog ate a box of crayons and vomited all over the quilt!!! I am still trying to salvage the blocks, have not sewn them together yet. I am thinking about putting WIDE black strips between the blocks to tone it down and make 3 different quilts from that stack of blocks. I actually toyed with the idea of starting an ugly quilt thread on this board but didn't know if others would be Interested in doing that!

Yes, and I gave it away to the community service group at the guild. The ladies took it apart and made really cute cuddle quilts out of it.

I'm starting to hate one of my current UFOs. I promised my just-married sister and her husband a quilt for their bed, made from their old tee shirts. They ended up getting a king bed.
I did not anticipate how much work such a big quilt would be. I'm currently sitting at 5 out of 36 of its squares finished, and will then have to join them together and do a nice big border. Not having much fun working on it, and not seeing how I can have it finished by my goal time, their first anniversary at the end of May. |
