SouthPStitches 02-16-2013 12:12 PM

Absolutely. What is your new project?

quilts4charity 02-16-2013 12:13 PM

Almost every new one I start excites me!!!!!

ckcowl 02-16-2013 12:13 PM

I am ALWAYS excited when starting a new project! sometimes i may become a bit (disillusioned) with it later- but in the beginning it's always exciting. if the excitment isn't there i wouldn't start it :)

Pinkiris 02-16-2013 12:14 PM

I'm always excited about a new project. My problem is keeping excited until completion! Whatcha workin' on?

patchsamkim 02-16-2013 12:17 PM

I am always excited about a new project too! I love picking out the fabrics, and cutting and piecing, or appliqueing. It is almost always the quilting part that stops me. Not that I don't like doing it, but trying decide how to quilt the project. I know I can always stipple/meander and just get it done, but sometimes a quilt needs something special, and hard to decide what that should be.

Quiltngolfer 02-16-2013 12:17 PM

I'm always really excited about a new project until I get the top pieced. Lol.

luvstoquilt 02-16-2013 12:23 PM

I am always excited to start a new project..so much so I tend to start before I finish the one I am working on at the time..thus another UFO!

An interpretation of a drawing. have all the fabrics. child's drawing about age 4.. but lots of room to add depth and texture to the drawing.. will be fun .. Grandma request and a surprise

quilttiger 02-16-2013 03:22 PM

Sounds like a truly fun project! I get excited whenever I make a Quilt Of Valor because I always try a different pattern and it is fun seeing how it turns out.

Furball 02-16-2013 03:42 PM

I'm enough of a novice that I'm excited about every project. Almost all my quilts are charity quilts for children. Each one is a different pattern and a different FMQ pattern. I love each one while I'm working on it but I'm also always looking to the next one with great excitement.

Central Ohio Quilter 02-16-2013 05:02 PM

I have been quilting for over 30 years and I still get SO excited with each new quilt I start! I wouldn't be starting them if I didn't still feel this way!

mighty 02-16-2013 05:52 PM

Yes, Yes, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

conniemaried 02-16-2013 09:31 PM

I'm really excited about my new project. Bought a pattern and just loved the fabrics it was made out of, and then found out I could still buy the very same fabric. That doesn't happen for me very often. It arrived a few days ago, and I've been cleaning/sorting out my quilting studio so that I can start. Can't wait!

mamagrande 02-16-2013 09:47 PM

Yes, I am always excited when I purchase the fabric for a project...problem is that life happens and I have whole projects in boxes pattern and all. I have one that I started in a class over 5 years ago, it's a radiant star but I took apart several times so that the center looks like a size D bra...Haha.. a Longarmer said she could quilt is down if I finish it. I will try and finish it at our next retreat, That is if I am not too embarrassed.

Moonglow 02-16-2013 09:53 PM

Yes, I get excited about a new project each and every time. Love the whole process from start to finish.

DOTTYMO 02-17-2013 04:56 AM

I get a wonderful sense of excitement as I begin a new project. I think that is why I have more than one on the go at any time. It was like being at school new exercise book or sometimes a new peg.
Wonderful forget the past new hope Nd fun.
I don't get the same excitement with a finished quilt oh it is done.

EllieGirl 02-17-2013 06:00 AM

I start building excitement once I've pieced the top of the current project and know that within a week I'll be starting something new. Today I should finish the quilt I've been working on and I'm excited about what I'll start today or tomorrow.

judylg 02-17-2013 06:16 AM

Yes, a new project gets the adrenaline running and I do look forward to starting it. It is good all the way around. Maybe I should start something new today....:)

bunniequilter 02-17-2013 06:17 AM

Just thinking about a new project gets me excited!

pollyjvan9 02-17-2013 06:17 AM

I agree, I am always excited when I start a new project. Most of the time I am using stash fabrics or scraps so I am never really sure what they will turn out looking like, but that doesn't dim that rush of excitement.

meanmom 02-17-2013 06:28 AM

I always get really excited over a new project. I work on it feverishly until they are about 3/4 of the way finished and then I get bored and want to start something new. That is how I create so many UFO"s.

I just got the book "The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt" and am very excited about lmaking this one - 6" blocks (I've never made a block this little), it's going to be 103x103 (king size) for a double bed, never done that before. It calls for 145 blocks plus the sashing and the cornerstones and the border. It is 111 different blocks. Should be a real hoot. I have never done templates before either and the book came with a cd with the templates and instructions. I figure maybe 2-3 a week and I'll have the blocks made in one year. I am not going to rush this one - It is a beautiful quilt. And yes I am very excited to start this one, but I am just as excited to finish the "Floating Stars" I am making for our next door neighbor for taking care of Miss Bess while my husband was in the hospital and I was with him. Special quilt, that one. Special neighbor!

Wow! Very ambitious! Best wishes to the finish line!

smurfsmom 02-18-2013 08:03 AM

I'm with you Luvstoquilt :) I also have MANY UFO's. I have started finishing 1 before or while i am working on the new one. This helps me with chain piecing too. There is usually something i can run through to get the pieces free that i want to press.

Often. Be sure to share as you go along.

There is a name for this disease.... It is called quiltitis and tends to be catchey, and often when you think you are well it will strike again. Beware!
