Yep I did. I was at quilting class and knocked the rotary cutter off the table onto my bare toe. It bled like crazy. I didn't want anyone to know as they keep saying to make sure to keep the cover on the cutter when not in use so I went in the bathroom and tried to wrap paper towels around it. I made an excuse to leave and my husband took one look at it and said I needed stitches. That was 2 years ago and when wearing some high heels it rubs my toe and still hurts. I ALWAYS put the cover on now when I set it down.

Does anyone use the glove to cut with & does it work?

I have nicked myself, but I have a lot of respedt for the rotary cutter, If anyone else is over sewing I make sure they close the cutter b4 they lay it down, they can be really dangerous, knew a lady that dropped one on her foot and had to have 14 stiches, B careful

Yikes! I'm glad you weren't cut too badly. Just today, I bought myself one of Fons and Porter's KLUTZ gloves at Tuesday Morning for only $7! (At Joann's it was $24.99). In one of my quilt classes, a woman sliced her finger a good one, and I have been nervous ever since. It'll be a bother to put it on each time I cut, and it's not TOTALLY cut proof, but I'd rather be safe than sorry! Heal fast! ;)

I was cutting with the June tailor ruler and the just cut up the slit and didn't realize my finger was on it and not beside it,slipped right into my index finger sideways but just put bandage on it. It hurt for long time and kept on opening when I'd have a shower and took off the bandage. It was a new blade also so it didn't take much to go through....

As Kathryn said I seem to get myself with pins. I am always careful with the rotary cutter (just as each of you are) but it happens. Just tell me why is it we always worry about getting blood on the fabric first, then look at our fingers? LOL

Not so much the flesh but the finger nails. Don't ask me how I manage to do that but I get nicks in my nails and that annoys me big time.

Yes! I think it was the second time using a rotary cutter. Ran the blade about an inch up my left index finger. Off to the ER with husband. Don't remember how many stitches but it was a painful lesson. Needless to say I'm REALLY careful now.

Yes, I have used one for years, but I still manage to nick myself :-(
