Three weeks ago, I cut a big hunk out of my left index finger, it wouln't stop bleeding, so I went to emergency clinic, since there was nothing to stitch to, the dr. put silver nitrate on it then cauterized it. Wore a big honking bandage and finger guard for two weeks, still wearing a bandaid. It's very tender and draws at night. Oh, I was cutting white fabric, and, not a drop of blood got on it. that was my first rotary cutter accident and now I am uber careful. Happy Quilting!

Yes, I have sliced off a chunk in my finger and once the open cutter dropped on the top of my bare foot! Good thing we all heal.

Yes, I have sliced my finger down to the bone and had 15 stitches to repair it. Wouldn't have gone to the doctor but I couldn't get it to stop bleeding. A rotary can be deadly if you are not careful!

Been there done that!

While I was cutting fabric the cutter slipped and cut my thumb, split the nail in half and knicked the bone. My husband rushed me to the hospital and I had emergency hand surgery. I was released that night and when I arrived home there was a message that my mother had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. Luckily, we both recovered but it is a night that I will never forget.

This is exactly how mine feels. I type every day for a long time and have no sensation in that finger. I think there is always nerve damage when you slice that deep.[/i]

I type for a living so it's really put a crimp in my work and quilting...however I did adapt and learned to type with only four fingers on my left hand.
