I just found this tutorial but his one makes a smaller version, but you could enlarge it to make it bigger

I have been reading that the mug rugs are 6 x 9, 5 x 10 etc.

another pattern in pdf (* 8 pages to print) and you could make it bigger but this give us the general idea and also a cute way to applique and make cute towels

Not yet, but intend to try! Does seem like a good way to practice different squares, which I need!

Mug rugs sounds like a great way to use up my scraps, try a new pattern etc. What would you put in it so moisture wouldn't get on your table or isn't that necessary?

Looks like a thin potholder. I don't think a pattern is needed to make one.

Could you use the silver ironing board stuff? How about the rubber-nubby stuff for footie pjs - I only thought of this because I'm rather clumsy and this would keep the rug from sliding off the table (don't ask). Ok, now another project added to the list!

If you look up at the top of your screen where is has the title "Quilting Board - The Quilter's Message Board"
Look right under that and you will see all the different pages like "Home", "Quilting Newsletter", "Live Chat (#)", etc.
Click on the "LIVE CHAT" and a new window will open for you.
You will see a list on the right of who all is on there, etc.
At that point the folks on live chat can help you if needed.
Give it a try.....I LOVE it! Have made lots of great friends.
Hope this helps!

They're cute! Would be a great project for learning a new technique, or teaching a child to quilt.

What about putting insul brite in them? Do you think that would help to keep the cup warm or just protect your table top?

nwm50 11-06-2010 03:12 PM

yes....either insulbrite or warm/natural batting will work ! But don't overquilt or it will be flatter than a 2 layer of fabric done together...ask me how i know
