I only started quilting last year even if I started collecting things 10 years ago. I was working and didn't really have any time to actually quilt. Now, it is hard to keep me away from the Sewing Machine. I started with my little Brothers Machine and purchased a Singer Q7469 in December. If I had to do it again, I would have bought the Singer before now. You will love quilting. Relaxing and very gratifying. Welcome!!!

My first quilt was a twin - my second a double. I agree with starting big - if it is a bed size quilt, and you have it on your bed or where you can see it, you really feel like you've done something. Yes, you may pick out flaws, but nobody besides you will, they will just see a nice quilt!

As a lady in my quilting group said - if the person is looking at your points/blocks and saying bad things about it, it's their problem - not yours!!

Welcome to the Quilting Board. We are excited you have started your first quilt and I hope you post it so we can see it. We love sharing. :~)

We are so glad you have joined us. I agree with others to start with something small. Connectingthreads.com has some great starter kits that don't cost too much. And the nice thing is that the color combination is already picked out for you. If you decide to go it on your own, I would stick with the fabric from the same line and pattern group to help keep colors coordinated.
