OMG I actually hope mine does NOT look like that when I go
My kids would kill me - oh yea I would already be gone!
Look I love quilting and fabric stash but for me that is just too, too crazy!!!

Cookie64 01-15-2011 07:16 PM

That is a quilt store for sure, she must have not had time to do any quilting or sewing with collecting all of this.

nelsongrc 01-15-2011 09:38 PM

Lorraine - I think if you go to www.quiltedparadise.com and sign up for the newsletter - then you're back on track!!

thesnook 01-16-2011 09:19 AM

Jo-ann's has a 50% coupon on their site. Good on any one regular-priced item. Bye - off to Jo-ann's

Rosalie Monroe 01-16-2011 10:32 AM

Wow, would I loved to have been there . Reminds me of a gold mime find. Rosalie

joeyoz 01-16-2011 11:51 AM

Oh my! WOW!!!

sewmom 01-16-2011 11:52 AM

She who dies with the most fabric-is still dead! AND leaves all that for someone else to take care of. On the bright side-someone who will use it got a good deal.

jaciqltznok 01-16-2011 12:35 PM

please do not ever come to my home with a camera....

the only trouble with buying fabric from sales like that is not knowing how it was stored. It can have be dry rotted, have rodent stuff on it, etc....

I hope they all took it home and washed it well....

I know because I work for a company that does these sales....you would be amazed at what we have to toss....sad but true....

McDarla 01-16-2011 06:14 PM

Very Impressive! =)

gh380 01-17-2011 08:20 AM

I am overwhelmed ! Where did she have it stored?

stitchinwitch 01-17-2011 10:02 AM

She lived in a tiny house and had a garage and small storage building.

mom2boyz 01-17-2011 10:27 AM

I'll bet this thread wins for the most posts beginning with W.O.W. too funny. Lots of comments about what a wonderful quilter she must have been. Maybe she didn't quilt at all - just collected!!!

It's nice to have a bit of a stash. Adds color and purpose to a life.

But that much... is kind of sad. She didn't come close to using it up. I truly hope she got a great deal of pleasure from acquiring it.

I dunno... maybe it's just me, but the older I get the less desire I have to collect anything at all. I still like looking at pretty things, I just no longer feel the need to own it. Just looking is enough.

I wonder if I'm the only one?

As I am now in my retired years, I am feeling more and more like you. I look at some of the stuff I've purchased and wonder WHY, WHY, WHY did I ever buy that.

wraez 01-17-2011 10:45 AM

This was an auction? I was wondering how much they priced the fabrics till I saw it was the last part of the 'auction'.

Do you know if the fabrics went for a good price? The thing about auctions, lots of people get caught up in 'auction fever' and spend too much. Sometimes a good deal can be had.

Now I don't feel bad about my stash. Too bad that lady didn't use more of hers or give it to friends or charity groups.

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

Glad I missed it. I would have to mortgage both of my children and my son-in-law if I went. But, if I took them, we never would have stopped without me being tied up and gagged. (Yes, they know SOME of my secrets)

It's not necessarily just about fabric, either, is it? All sorts of knick-knacks, shiny jewelry, boodles of holiday decor... all of the stuff that just gets dusted and moved from place to place, or that gets tangled up in a drawer.

??

After looking at this, I will never again pass by an auction. So much fabric, what a shame she didn't have family to share it with and it went to auction.
just saying......sandy/mi

Deborah12687 01-17-2011 03:53 PM

Faith Taylor 01-18-2011 01:22 PM

This is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

biscuitqueen 01-18-2011 08:01 PM

WOW

KiwiQuilter 01-19-2011 12:21 AM

No way!

I think she had more fabric than most of the LQSs I've been to.

tlcquiltnut 01-19-2011 05:53 AM

A friend of mine told me about this a quilt group yesterday...she sent me a link this morning and I was surprised to see quilting board....
THAT IS A LOT OF FABRIC. I thought I had a lot!!!
DH has no idea......teehee.....

Anna O 01-19-2011 07:31 AM

Thanks for sharing, makes my stash look very small!

PERFECTIONIST 01-20-2011 01:49 PM

WOW! I AM IMPRESSED. WISH I HAD BEEN THERE TO SNAG SOME OF THOSE DEALS. LOOKS LIKE A WONDERFUL COLLECTION.

Kimkankwilt 01-20-2011 02:55 PM

I saw somewhere that quilters are like hoarders..hmmm..

Minathie 01-20-2011 09:57 PM

I can't help wondering what was behind this lady's apparent obsession with stash accumulation.......but, wow, I would've liked to have seen it. I'm a bit far away though - in Australia. At least it makes me realise my stash obsession is pretty mild!

pookie ookie 01-20-2011 10:25 PM

That shouldn't make you mad....Maybe the fact that it makes you mad means there some truth to it.

stitchinwitch 01-21-2011 04:19 PM

well. I admit it, and if I should feel ashamed, I am not. "Free to Be, You and Me"

It makes me mad because he sometimes goes on and on about all my stash. He will not admit that if either of us is a horder it is him. Up untill my sister passed away I may have had 1/10 of the storage space in our place. When my sis passed away I got her apartment to turn into my sewing studio. My husband has all of our place filled with his tools, photo stuff, computers, tools he really has no use for(ex. a huge gillitine that is used for cutting blocks of paper or cardboard. It is really a dangerous tool. It weighs about a thousand pounds and could lop off your arm or whatever with no trouble whatsoever) He bought it cause it was a neet thing to have. If you loaded up all of his stuff to move it would take ten times the size truck as it would take to move mine. That is why it makes me mad. He sees the hoarders on tv and always says, that looks like your stuff. Well, it doesn't cause mine isn't even close to being like any of the hoarders he sees on tv. Can you tell it makes me mad? If I could just make him think of fabric as a tool he would have nothing to crab about!

Maybe take a picture of his stuff and show him what it's like. Sometimes one has to take a step back and look at the big picture before one realizes the mess one is in.

I agree with you....way to much fabric there! I've only got a a few shelves of fabric and I'm not using it as fast as I'd like!

pjnesler 05-02-2014 06:35 PM

I'd love to find a sale like that - since we are on the subject, I wonder if the folks selling fabric to all of us daily wonder if we are actually making a project or adding to our stash!

sewingsuz 05-02-2014 08:59 PM

WOW, I missed this one.
