Too late, everyone - this little lady has WON! Friendly Quilter and I went to an estate auction a month or 2 back and we were OVERWHELMED! - You will see what I mean. The lady lived in a SMALL home which was FULL, garage which was FULL, and a storage shed - FULL. Take a look - besides pictures of her stash, there were of course collectables, furniture, etc. Get the picture? - Embrace - I didn't take pics of EVERYTHING, but enjoy........

Jaos 01-13-2011 01:48 PM

WOW. Did any of it come home with you?

King's Daughter 01-13-2011 01:48 PM

W.O.W.
I am showing this picture to my DH. Makes me look like a total amateur.

bstock 01-13-2011 01:48 PM

Wow!!!!!!!!! Hope you added some to your stash!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim's Gem 01-13-2011 01:48 PM

WOW!!!!
Now, I don't have that much!!!!
Did you get lots of great stuff????

dgsmom 01-13-2011 01:49 PM

wow that was alot of fabric

King's Daughter 01-13-2011 01:49 PM

How funny! Everyone started out with WOW!

plainjane 01-13-2011 01:51 PM

This is amazing! Think of all of the truly vintage fabrics!

stitchinwitch 01-13-2011 01:52 PM

Well, naturally, they didn't begin THAT part of the auction until the end - WE WERE POOPED! I got a LITTLE - a dress form and some totes, and small group of fabric - Friendly Quilter made out real well! What you didn't see was all the blocks and miniature blocks, and books (I wanted so bad - BUT a "retailer" picked out the nicest books and bought them for a song. I was so exhausted by that point that I gave up, went home and put on my pj's!

craftybear 01-13-2011 01:53 PM

lots of fabrics, Wow, thanks for sharing with all of us

needles3thread 01-13-2011 01:54 PM

This lady must of thought she would take her fabric to
Heaven with her & make quilts for the angels.

stitchinwitch 01-13-2011 01:55 PM

Each of those flats with the fabric had at LEAST 25 yards each. It didn't look like it - but its true - another friend got a small one and I think there was more than that. Evidentally, this lady was known as the "best quilter" in Missouri. I didn't know her, but I'm sure she had a chuckle when she looks down and saw all the quilters salivating over her "treasures" - so! When you seee an auction advertised - EXPLORE it! -

Deecee 01-13-2011 02:01 PM

I'm green with stash envy now. But I don't think I could cope with that much fabric!

Cyn 01-13-2011 02:02 PM

All that in one home! I'm humbled :)

PegD 01-13-2011 02:12 PM

That is alot of fabric. How were the prices?

PWinston 01-13-2011 02:13 PM

Oh my gosh. That could be me in a few years. I definitely need an intervention.

maine ladybug 01-13-2011 02:14 PM

Now I don't feel so bad looking around my sewing room. I wish I could have seen that in person. Did you buy anything???

shequilts 01-13-2011 02:17 PM

Can you say "Hoarder"? What good could she have done with the money she had tied up in fabric. Makes me rethink my own stash.

Candace 01-13-2011 02:23 PM

I feel a bit better now. I sometimes feel guilty about my hobby. I'm sure she enjoyed having her own private quilt shop to peruse through. If she had the money and didn't have to eat cat food at every sitting. Good for her! And good for you for getting some nice things;>

whinnytoo 01-13-2011 02:40 PM

wish I could have been there!! wow!

maryb119 01-13-2011 02:43 PM

WOW! Wish I was closer so I could go too. There are some beautiful fabrics there.

luvTooQuilt 01-13-2011 02:44 PM

Apparently this auction went from 9am till midnight.. Tons of people in the morning but towards the end most went home..

kriscraft99 01-13-2011 02:44 PM

wow .. I'm speechless

kwendt 01-13-2011 02:45 PM

Holy cow! And I thought I was bad! I don't think I have even a 1,000th of what she had. She must have got such enjoyment out of quilting...

I'll have to keep my eyes open for an estate sale like that. Phew...

My SIL just 'picked' up a Gammel and Statler Stitcher.... whoooo. Now I KNOW I don't have room for anything like that... lol.

Lori S 01-13-2011 02:55 PM

If she does not win for the most , she certainly is a contender! I would have loved to seen some of the quilts she made.

fabric lover 01-13-2011 02:57 PM

Oh, I would love to have been there, am already seeing some beautiful fabrics .

stitchinwitch 01-13-2011 03:01 PM

The prices? A little high for an auction, but still alot less that you would spend at a shop. The flats sold for around $40-50, but they contained ALOT!

Jo M 01-13-2011 03:09 PM

I agree - she WINS! I wish I could have been there with you at the auction. Would have been a site to see.

Next thing you know there'll be a "Fabric Hoarders" reality show. Lock your doors everyone, so they don't see your stash.

1ncquilter 01-13-2011 03:12 PM

Wow--makes my stash look measly. Wait 'till I tell my husband! :-)

1ncquilter 01-13-2011 03:14 PM

Love your quilt, kwendt!

EXACTLY.This is one of those situation where too much is too much. I wonder what her finances were like.

LucyInTheSky 01-13-2011 03:22 PM

Showing to DH and never feeling like I have too much again!

martha jo 01-13-2011 03:24 PM

I bet she died happy. I have to confess, I might have that much. I have instructions that my quilting friends are to take some and give the rest to charity.

cashmommy11 01-13-2011 03:49 PM

holy cow boy you could have some fun with all of that..

fabric whisperer 01-13-2011 03:50 PM

Holy Moly, I am noooooo where near that yet... and yes, I said "yet" ~ I get harassed all the time by my brother that I have too much fabric. Of course, I daresn't let him see the "other stash"! I would so love to hit a sale like this one one day.

sueisallaboutquilts 01-13-2011 04:01 PM

Holy Smokes!!!!!!!!!!

hperttula123 01-13-2011 04:07 PM

Wow!!! I am very happy to admit...she had more fabric than I do :). I think she won!!! But, I bet she was very happy

quiltgrammyt2 01-13-2011 04:10 PM

OMG!!!!!!!That's kind of sad :|
Talk about too much and not enough time.

kbs 01-13-2011 04:12 PM
