The first thing I thought of was a piece of paper in the pocket. Glad it was just the needle and not time for the repairman!

I'm trying to get into the habit of putting a post-it note on my machine indicating what size and type of needle is in the machine at the time. It's sort of a low-tech version of those things they sell that you velcro onto the machine (where you move the slider to the needle size). Even the magnifier on the needle boxes isn't quite enough for me anymore... I can never see the numbers on the needles LOL.

That's not nearly as bad as when I left my plastic template in my embroidery hoop. Couldn't figure out what was making that popping noise. I didn't realize what it was until I took the embroidery out of the hoop. Now my template has a cross shaped hole in the middle of it. I hate to admit it but that's not the dumbest thing I've done, and we're only talking about sewing.
