are hearts feminine?
I have been quilting my delectable mountain quilt. I just did cross hatch in the body part of the quilt. I wanted to do something different for the borders. I was thinking maybe loopy hearts, but then I was concerned. Are hearts feminine? I would like to keep this sort of gender neutral - so would hearts be girly?

Hearts suggest love and that sure isn't just for girls! I say go for it :)
Ps. Love seeing my favorite celebrity with you!! Isn't she the greatest?? |
I think they are on the feminine side. Unless they have daggers through them, of course.

Every one has a heart.
If you are worried about it, put a few hearts in randomly along with whatever other design you come up with for the borders. Either way will be great. |
Does not every one have a heart? Go for it.

All the manly quilts I have made for my hubby have either hearts in the quilting stitches or applique hearts somewhere in the fabric placement. They don't take away from the manliness of the quilt and he actually looks for the little hearts and loves them. I say go for it!

I've always considered hearts to be girly girl. I would go with a entwined vine instead of hearts. There are many stencils out there to pick from. If you want a heart some where on the quilt, use it on the label.

Leaves would be another option.
